We have very high property and sales taxes to make up for it.

...there is a fascinating study there:
..one state that doesn't even have an income tax and people and businesses are flocking there...

...and another state that people and businesses can't exit quick enough that taxes the daylights out of everything that moves ... but is basically bankrupt and riddled with fraud and corruption:
....and people refuse to vote in any people who would change that particular states situation....

I am native born CA and my job allows that I could transfer to any of about half the States in our Country. The total cost of taxes and living in CA vs TX...all other variables being equal...are not even close.

...and my gas is still $1.60-$2.00 cheaper per gallon currently as illustrated above.

Crowing about how Texas is an economic nirvana while presenting California as a financial pit is a bit disingenuous. Texas's GDP is $2.90 Trillion while California's GDP is $4.25 Trillion (List of U.S. states and territories by GDP - Wikipedia).

The logic of the pieces of that article quoted are:

    • in Texas A (economics good) leads to B (good result)
    • in California not A (economics bad) leads to not B (even better result - so we won't mention it)

Not saying that there aren't serious problems in California's economy, but articles that resort to the preceding logic shouldn't be given a whole lot of credence and their "Fair and Balanced" is probably neither.

...California is one of the most ecologically diverse and beautiful states I have ever had the privilege to visit and the people I got to meet in Sacramento were as kind and nice as any I've ever meant........

my post was aimed at the individual who continually whines about the price of gas in California and then elects/votes for the exact people who create the circumstances that cause the price of gas in California to be so high - all the while blaming it on a national politician.

sorry it seemed I was California bashing....do see how it looked that way...
