Looked at a 2015. 160k miles. Estimated battery 60%. C1241 code and a dead 12v in the guys yard. Cat seemed good. Air conditioner had a slow start. Tons of leaves under hood. Otherwise seems ok. Asking $8500 thoughts on c1241? Im assuming this is why his 12v was dead. Had a parasitic drain in my gen 2. Wary of dealing with that again.
$8500????? OUCH!!!! WAY too much. Dead 12v battery, about $200 for a new one, and make sure you charge the new battery for 6 hours or so at 5amps or less. I "guess" you jumped the 12v battery to get the car running????? It doesn't have to sit for long before the. battery dies. How do you describe the "slow start" for the ac??? Why has the car been sitting for so long? How many miles on it? How do you know the cat "seemed good"? What tests did you perform?

2015 has the updated pistons and rings, not sure if that's the cause of the blown head gaskets or not though
I'll sell you my 2015 for $6500. It has 126k miles...a salvage title. I have driven it for 102k miles in 9 years and NOTHING has broken on it. Oil changes every spring and fall. Not a perfect car, but the most dependable car I have ever owned. (No I have not cleaned the EGR circuit) Airbag light is on (ever since I've had it), undercarriage cover is not there (ever since I've had it). I just did spark plugs and brakes and an engine air filter, less than 1k miles on them. It's red and looks fine for a 11 year old car. I am in central NC. (Sanford) If anyone is interested, let me know....I have not listed it yet anywhere. (I just bought a Maverick hybrid).
Everything is so expensive. Saw a 2009 with 260k they were asking $4700 I ran diagnostics with my OBD2 and watched the live data from the O2 and O1 sensors. Sensor at the end of the cat was relatively flat. The cars being flipped by someone who buys and sells. The dead 12v was in the trunk and the C1241 code came up, assuming that’s why. Assuming like my gen 2 this will be persistent. Ran Dr. Prius life expectancy test and got 60% AC took a few minutes for the compressor to kick in, seemed to struggle.
I wish. Have you seen the prices on the market? It’s insane. Seeing gen 2’s with 200k going for $6,000
I know....some would make the drive to save $2000 and get a better car. I twice have driven to Fla from NC to buy cars...Miami is a 12+ hour one way trip. I did post this in case anyone else might be interested,,,,,
Cats are not the concern on a gen3. AC is usually very reliable and rarely even leak. That car probably has a leak. Best case condenser, maybe $750. Evaporator or blend door requires removing the entire dash. Usually $2000. Hybrid battery at 60% is not good. $2400 during your ownership. Brake Booster $2500 and is a likely failure. Head gasket $2500-$8000 and way too common on a gen3. A flipper can hide the issue for a month or two with sealer. Egr clogging costs $1000 from a shop
