I am pretty sure this is a dumb question, but would like to make sure, assuming many folk have done this long before me: Surprisingly, there are few hits for NACS when searching here--none related. I'm about to go on my annual pilgrimage to Disney World, and one of the hotels along the way had the good sense to put in some free level 2 chargers, but alas not quite enough sense for them to be J-1772, it is just a NACS connector. If I go get one of those NACS to J1772 adapters, that will work just fine with the Prius Prime, right? 99% sure this is the case, but just checking before I go ahead and order an adapter. While at it, anything special to look for when ordering one? Thanks in advance. will
Such an adapter works just fine for my 2024 RAV4 Prime. The Prius Prime shouldn't be any different, other than pulling less current. The issues will (1) getting the right adapter flavor, not the opposite flavor that lets Tesla-NACs cars charge from J1772 outlets, and (2) product quality. Going by the reviews, it seems there are plenty of too-cheap models that overheat or melt or quickly fall apart. At least the older Toyota Primes charge at relatively low currents, so heating should be less of an issue. I've successfully charged from a networked Tesla NACS destination outlet only once, it required signing up for a Tesla account and using their app. A couple other networked sites failed to activate. Several uses of non-networked NACS stations were successful and didn't require any account or app.
