Not worth looking but some of the flu deaths increasing amongst the elderly BS “news” are looking at absolute numbers per year which just happen to track population distribution, many areas have a decrepit population distribution (as shown) due to years of targeted groups leaving and targeted groups being shipped in as contractors or retirees.

Seneator Rand Paul is a medical doctor who used to have his own practice - he is more a centralist or libertarian than Republican, he upset many of us here when he opposed President Trumps Supreme Court nominees and often refuses to support many Republican bills because they increase the country's debt.

As one of his constituents I can tell you he responds to us when we question him, has quarterly phone/zoom town halls and constantly sends out surveys to hear what his constituents think on issues.

Trump was prosecuted in state court on the basis of uncharged federal campaign violations. He invoked his right in the midst of the pending criminal charges for which he would be tried. There was no sense in which the charges pertained to accountability for public policy.

Fauci was before congress on the subject of his prior congressional testimony about public policy and whether that testimony was true in light of recently disclosed documents. The many of the questions would have been covered under the extraordinarily broad pardon he received from Biden, but that wouldn't prevent state court prosecutions.

Both men were correct to refuse testimony where prosecution is a threat.

 

Considering that Paul has previously declared that Fauci should be "behind bars", and that the game plan here was to create any possible new thread of an excuse to hang Fauci on a perjury charge, it would have been a strategic mistake for Fauci to do anything other than take the 5th.

 

It isn't strategic, but the best practice is generally to make the government carry its burden without helping it.

The plan isn't an excuse to hang Fauci on a perjury charge. If the newly disclosed docs indicate that Fauci provided false testimony to congress as part of a messaging campaign to gain compliance with proposed restrictions at that time, then perjury is the correct charge.

Fauci refusing to self-incriminate doesn't keep the topic from being further investigated.

 

Dr Malone - one of the original scientists credited for participating in the creation / design of RNA vaccines was pretty much barbecued by the government & it's primary whore - the leftist media - simply due to his warnings / stance. It can't be a criticism of Paul that he held a hearing during which the witness refused to answer any questions, and that therefore the hearing didn't produce new information. He doesn't control whether the witness speaks.

One aspect of the episode that doesn't reflect well on Fauci is that while he seemed privately intoxicated by his own notoriety, he said nothing about the necessity of tolerance of dissent as a necessary part of healthy public discourse or scientific inquiry. That weakness in the face of the hand in glove operation of privately owned media and the federal government certainly contributed to the public panic and government overreach.

We would do well to remember that very early on in the covid story there was evidence that infection rates here were already high even as the story about Wuhan was just breaking, and that the health threat to young and healthy populations was slight. Docs who made these points were effectively muted by proxy.

The resulting public policy hurt a lot of people.
