    Literally a few weeks back had an offer accepted on a more locally found 89k miles Sienna HV battery, though I only want the newer modules or course.

    Thinking I might have to make a post with a list of specific hybrid part number inverters that can be found that use the HV batteries with input specs if found.

    Now wondering if two of the 1500W 120V inverters might be more cost effective, if found used, than the UPS's I invested in? Blah, lol

    Stretch goal: get two, work out a way to keep their oscillators sync'd, wire up as a 120/240 source. (If they refer their outputs to case ground, sync the oscillators 180° apart.)

    Had a similar issue with our anti Island'ing PV array that was designed to deliberately shut down once the grid crashed. Obviously that's because you don't want to backfeed when linemen are trying to bring the local system back up.
    All our SunPower (2) PV inverters wanted to identify was single phase 60 cycle current, & then they were good to go. It didn't matter if it was 1KW or or 55kW's.
    Once the grid was disconnected, & the pure sine wave EU 5500 Honda generator inverter hooked up to our grid disconnected home - the sun power inverters would re-sync w/ the Honda automatically - just like they would do with grid power - and the Honda would remain at an idol unless the solar panels could not provide enough power in the daytime for the house. Would it have been easier to have an array of batteries? Yeah, more expensive too.
    It was just an emergency system that allowed our PV to run during daytime power outages, w/out batteries. We never drew more than 2½KW off the generator - even if the panels were providing 3 or KW of their potential 8kW.
    The first time I threw the breaker for the back feed generator? I figure I had a 50/50 chance of blowing the generator to smithereens & was quite pleased when things went to plan.
    Everonce in a while the generator (& thus PV array as well) inexplicably would shut down but would come back upon Honda restart.
    Don't try this at home.

    "We're not worthy..." oh great one. OK, more seriously, I have taken a mental note, praise we're thinking in phase and seriously once I get my hands on one then researching more on how is better (cost effective and smd scale quessing) to phase shift the two for a two leg "split phase" 240 source.

    In regards to the more unobtanium (or astronomically high priced when available) Honda inverter modules for the older inverter generators, I recall I last left off with one where was thinking the Champion still on the market might do. Ideally reverse engineering the Honda potted to hen design and open sourcing, though yeah. However, the more I think about in relationship to the Post, taking the asynchronous (I think that is the term) Honda generator rectified output into one of these higher voltage inverter systems might be a valid work around. Wondering which inverter might be the better of them? Of course the controls to start the generator, confirm start and actuate the choke-throttle will need to be designed as seems is all integrated in the potted magic module if I recall correctly.

    Anti-islanding is a requirement for all grid-tie PV systems.

    My Enphase micro-inverters require the AC mains to stay within a narrow frequency range (likely ruling out most non-inverter generators), and a voltage range. Units destined for Hawaii had wider tolerances to handle the realities of the grids there.

    Momentary voltage surges or sags should cause the PV inverters to trip out. Various household loads switching on and off could do this, e.g. more load than the generator plus PV (under whatever variable lighting conditions of the moment) can supply, or less load than the PV wants to supply (presuming generator cannot operate in reverse as a power sink).

    I have a 2015 Prius V and am interested in the best way to connect to the traction battery with an inverter! What is the current best practice and available kit?

    I don't think there are any Prius-specific kits currently available to buy new.

    Even if you can find a high voltage inverter that provides 120v single phase (or 240vac split phase), the size of the unit can be rather large. To say nothing of tapping into the hybrid high voltage without tripping the car's built in high voltage leakage detector, which could disable the car.

    While a 12vdc to 120vac 750 watt inverter is reasonably possible and some people install 1500 watt inverters to better handle surges, the 12vdc amps and wire sizes are huge. In reality, an RV style second 12vdc battery and quality isolator to the vehicle's 12v system become necessary to ensure you are not stranded by a discharged or ruined vehicle 12v battery.

    The quality of any add in inverter needs to be top notch with built in protections against fire and should have clean sine wave outputs.
