SpiderMan - Brand New Day

**This IS NOT a SPOILER.

There is nothing wrong with this movie. It is kinda cool ... as SuperHeros go. The glitch ... for ME however ... was that I've not seen any of the previous SpiderMan movies. Just an opinion here ... you really need or should know all the SpiderMan back-stories to best enjoy this movie. Other than generally knowing who SpiderMan is ... I had NO real clue.

I'm not sayin' ... I'm just sayin'. ​

If you haven't watched any of the Mad Max movies, see Mad Max 2 first, if you watch Mad Max 1 first, you will wonder what the hell is going on ......

Why don't any drivers younger than 40, know where the f*** the right side of their vehicle is...?

Gonna err on the generous side, as plenty of 'Lennials fail this as well But growing up, no one took right turns by first turning wide a whole width of the car, then crossing the dbl yellow several car lengths before retuning to their lane...? A motorcycle can easily slip into the gap between their right wheels and the kerb -- also forces oncoming traffic to react, which slows everyone down. See it constantly here, pulling into the TGT car park, in front the store... and so many other key spots can't list them all for fear of Fyooch-novelisation

Telling you, putting all this driver's aid crap in cars is creating lazier and lazier drivers -- not that there's much barrier to getting a driver's licence in this country to start with Managed to drive 37 yrs before my first collision (paid for by the fella's insurance by fault) without any beeps of wheel shakes or voices telling me what I should've been looking for in the first place.

How are these people learning how to drive? Is the barrier so low now, they just show up at the DMV in derp-mode, do painfully basic crap, then learn more by bashing and bolting, before they're forced to take responsibility...?

Training people to crutch on esp parking aids and collision avoidance, makes for a truly frightening driver, in any pre-crutch vehicle: 'but Aunty, your '98 truck should've braked if that kid jumped in front of me'. No honey, it didn't -- that's on you.

 

People making wide right turns in passenger vehicles is not a recent thing.

 

most people around here swerve 5 or 6 feet opposite to the way they are turning before making the turn.
you have to be cautious if trying to go around the right when they are making a left on a 2 lane road.

 

WIDE turns seem more recent to me.
I'm old enough to remember when students took driver's education in high school - seems like drivers even are less talented NOW than then.

They should not allow people to drive until they are 18....and then only after they post a $5,000 surety bond since insurance seems to be a voluntary thing in many states!

It's not voluntary but people learn how to beat the system. For example in Texas they check insurance before allowing the yearly license tag renewal. So some buy a month of no name insurance for the renewal. Police also have online access by license tag but a driver has to be pulled over first.

As a result most of us have to add uninsured motorist protection to our policies.

 

I recall Kris' story here about her accident with an uninsured driver. I did due diligence and met with my agent and upped my uninsured coverage. My son did the same. In the past seven years he has been hit twice by uninsured and unlicensed drivers in Seattle. Both times he was stopped at a stop sign

Odds of a driver without insurance hitting you are fairly good.

 

Had an overhead light have issues. Measured the voltage at the feature and it was 80 VAC. Checked the light fixture but it was fine. Now the line feeding the power to that light was the last 1950's installed wire left in the house. Checked the wire and yes, it was warm (too resistive, I guess). So had it removed and replaced with new wire. Voltage was now back up to 120 AC. A similar issue occurred for a friend but it was the diode light assembly shorting to the ground causing wire producing a similar low voltage problem on their line. New light fixed their issue.
