Anyone Used or Aware of the Toyota Prius Gen 2 and 3 - Hybrid Battery Rhino Monitor

    This "Toyota Prius Gen 2 and 3 - Hybrid Battery Rhino Monitor" recently came up in a EGR Cooler search on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/307111799122?

    Not certain if was suggested by AI or something behind the scenes, being I happen to have posted some bad YT jafinch78 channel videos on the CYB variant I've been working with to make something hardwired similar as well as potentially use for sniffing with SavvyCan.

    Can't say I see the utility of full time monitoring of the hybrid battery pack. They claim it can detect issues before it codes but I find that difficult to believe.

    I think realtime engine temperature readings have some value but only if there is an audible alarm at an early configurable temperature like 220f on a car that normally runs under 205f at all times and is usually 185f to 195f.

    Given that is available for $30, a step up might be something that monitors both engine coolant temps and the inverter coolant temp. Perhaps monitor the battery temperature. Maybe add a water pump rpm commanded vs actual.

    All with audible alarms so that years of no issues does not cause complacency or to avoid complete inattention when the wife or relative is driving the car.

    My thought as well, especially with the hybrid camry and me seeing what appears abnormally high eCVT temp on longer freeway drives. That's why I designed one app/screen to split up the two MG1 and MG2 eCVT and inverter temps separately for more insight. I didn't think about the other controls. Will have to research what all exact variables specs can be read. Reminds me I need to split out the two engine coolant temps (radiator and head) as well if I didn't.

    For an alarm, the CYB does have a speaker out, so can be an option. I am just so swamped with other chores and tasks. Almost wanting to break down and try Claude AI to maybe save some time as appears per some is super useful for programming.
