I'm just curious for those of you who have the CA HOV stickers - where do you live and drive - Southern Cal or Northern Cal? For me, I live and drive in So. Cal. (Mainly 10, 210, 60, 5, 605 and 405 (in OC) freeways)

Woodland Hills to West L.A.; early in the day Topanga Canyon to PCH; non-rush hour (i.e., 4 a.m.) 101 to 405. By the way, I spent 7 years at UCLA and, as far as I am concerned, my car's color is Bruin blue.

SoCal, Oxnard to Simi Valley on the 101, 23 and 118. Not a single car pool lane, but I do enjoy blasting past the on-ramp signals.

I use the car pool lanes on the 405 when going to LAX, and on the 210 / 57 when heading to Orange County.

    So. Cal.

I don't use the HOV lanes because there aren't that many and when I drive the traffic isn't that bad.

I *DO* use the HOV access lanes that lead on to the freeway, so I don't have a long line to wait in at the light.

Stickers worth every penny for that.

I drive along the SF bay, down westbound 80 and across the Bay Bridge, then through San Francisco. It's the first miles of my commute where the HOV sticker matters, and it's a great benefit there.

I don't use them on my daily commute, but when I need 'em - how sweet it is! :D

Amen to using the stickers mainly/exclusively for on-ramps.

SoCal here. Simi Valley to El Segundo 118 & 405. If that is messed up on the way home I might go 105, 110, 101, 170, 5, 118. This route is about 10 miles longer but lots of car pool lanes :)

NorCal. No major commute but generally around the bay and across the bridges. Also a few trips each month across the bay, through the East Bay and Sacramento on the way up to Lake Tahoe.

[Saw the UCLA/Stanford gametonight. The PAC10 is strong this year, winning on the road is tough]

I'm in Southern Cal also. I drive the 91 from Corona to Torrance daily for a 45 mile one way commute. The car pool lane easily cuts 30 to 45 minutes from an already hour long commute.

So Cal here too. I drive the 91 to the 55, and back, two days a week. This will help a bit. :)

I voted SoCal, because that's where I'm located for auto insurance purposes.

Technically, Cambria is almost exactly halfway between the San Francisco and Los Angeles.

So. Cal. here. San Clemente to Ontario. Helps a lot at the Y and the 91. I can do the 1 1/2 to 2 hour commute in a little over one hour. My time is so worth it!! Not to mention saving time on the onramps. I'm lovin those big ol ugly stickers!

I live and work locally in Long Beach. No freeway commute; and thankfully, I only rarely have to use the freeways. :)

I primarily bought my Pri to save on gas and be greener; secondarily to be a member of an elite club with (carpool lane) benefits. I have used the HOV lane occasionally, mostly on weekends, primarily to enjoy the newer carpool-only freeway transitions (only available in the OC?) to avoid traffic jams. :p

Before anyone blogs that I wasted a sticker, you and your ilk could also argue that folks like me are reason to keep issuing stickers without worrying about clogging the carpool lanes on a daily basis.

Sorry, yes, you are wasting a sticker for people who REALLY need it on a daily basis.

I have my sticker and use it daily for the 118 freeway to Simi Valley. I see other Priusii without stickers stuck in traffic, and they look really pissed.

Commuting on the Ronald Reagan Freeway (118) from Los Angeles to Simi Valley is going against the flow of the rush hour traffic. Perhaps you should practice what you preach and give up your HOV stickers in order that someone who really needs them, like Driver-72 for example, can have them.
