Note: I would never under any circumstance buy an individual stock - you are competing against individuals, groups and systems that have enormous resources to predict markets and immediately execute trades in milliseconds - it is a fool's folly.

i do buy etf's and funds that would hold hundreds of automotive groups and sectors to diversify any risk associated with just one company and hedge a portion of our resources in cd's, fixed income tools etc.

prefer to get advice from know reliable, proven entities with enormous research resources at their disposal .. not individual random internet posters.

the people i trust manage Yale University trust funds, started Vanguard investments
they generally have backgrounds like this
"Charles “Charley” D. Ellis (born October 22, 1937) is an American investment consultant. In 1972, Ellis founded Greenwich Associates, an international strategy consulting firm focused on financial institutions. Ellis is known as a leader in promoting the use of diversified passive investing through index funds
Ellis was appointed twice to the faculty of the Harvard Business School in 1970 and 1974 and to the Yale
    School of Management
in 1986. At both Harvard and Yale, he taught advanced courses on investment management.[3]
Ellis went on to write dozens of books and articles on investing, including: The Partnership: The Making of Goldman Sachs,[8] What It Takes, a study of great professional firms,[2][9] and Rethinking Investing: A Very Short Guide to Very Long-term Investing.[1]

Ellis served as a successor trustee of Yale University from 1997 to 2008, where he chaired the university’s investment committee for nine years alongside Chief Investment Officer David Swensen. He received the Yale Medal in 2009 for his service to the University.[10][11]

He has served on the board of directors of the Harvard Business School and received the school’s alumni award for lifelong service in 1993.[12]"

i would be happy to consider your advice but first please include your resume in a post below....

yup, been stagnant for awhile. I doubled my investment quickly, but it hasn't moved in years

I missed the last doubling but there was a time limit. Regardless, the solar roof saves a little over $1,000 per year.

What a crock. Over past 10yrs or so? roughly 2000% increase for Tesla. Thus, why we sold. No company can outperform the market for ever. . Totally slaughtering Toyota stock over 10yrs. Still, don't let that stop anyone from looking at the short-term stuff.

I lost nothing in the 2008 financial crash, actually made money, saw it coming and moved what money I had then directly onto the home loan and made a 400% profit when we sold, while having a roof over our heads and used what would have been bank house loan payments to buy lithium batteries for hands on research and a house battery, solar, inverters and solar controllers, till I knew enough to open our own Offgrid design and installation business, a 2,000sq mtr workshop with an overhead crane, mezzanine and fully set up as a working enterprise, for cash and added it to our self managed superfund, bought a house overlooking the Murray River, for cash, and still had enough on hand to establish a business from scratch doing something that had no other competition resulting in customers booking 6 mths in advance and travelling up to 3,000kms to get a system installed.
We made good money during the Covid pandemic because we saw what was coming, stocked up on everything we needed and were still dealing with 3 jobs at a time through the whole period, because people wanted to escape the lockdowns and go bush, fully self contained in their RV .......

So, how did your finances go when listening the the professors and financial advises, that still get paid even if they lose you money?
I'm guessing you won't be sprouting how clever you are on a Prius forum if you actually did make good financial investments, you'd be too busy living it up ......
