Hey all, I just installed a new (well, used, and presumably tested) Harman bluetooth / USB expansion unit since mine died a while back for my 2012 Prius V with the 57011 head unit.

Even though the part number is exactly the same as the old one, once I had it in and started the car, the radio played for a few seconds then the entire screen went blank and silent. Pressing the various buttons tries to bring up the setup buttons on the screen, but they disappear after a couple of seconds.

Is there a factory reset I can do that will re-initialize the head unit, or do I need to take it to Toyota? I figured the new expansion part might not work, but I didn't count on the whole radio head unit going down. :-(

Attached is a pic of the part - it's an exact match to the one that was installed originally (why can't things just work the first time?).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Disconnect it and see if the head unit works. It is likely you have a bad expansion unit (the typical failure) or bent or pushed some cable pins.

Will do, though when I found the Diagnostics Menu mentioned in another thread, I was able to 'INIT' or 'RECHECK' (I can't remember the long-press button name exactly) and both the head unit and the expansion box came up as 'OK', making me think it's functional, though I'm not sure it is, of course. I'll disconnect it to try to at least get the radio working again. All I really care about is the USB wired connection I used to use for charging / playing audiobooks and music from my phone on trips.

I never got the USB AUX connection back, despite replacing the YY050 Harman expansion box that did solve the loss of NAV and other functions, including USB AUX. Bluetooth works fine for pairing audio devices.
