Searching new rear coil spring for my prius prime 2017

    Hello

    i am in QC, Canada. i often have adults in the backseat (carpooling between Quebec and Montreal about twice a month) and over the years i saw the back suspension wear out.

    I ordered the full kit of rear suspension on performancetoyota(dot)ca (shock mounts, struts, insulators, springs)

    it was the 26th june and 2 months later my order is still on hold because one of the springs is backordered from toyota canada. each time i ask for news they say the estimated time of arrival is 3 weeks. this morning they say `mid september` , but i doubt time since it`s the 3rd or 4th time.
    they offer to send me the order as is but i would just have one spring it`s useless

    Does that means that absolutely no 2017-2022 prius prime can get it`s suspension serviced in canada since at least 2 months ?
    I absolutely want to get my parts before it gets to cold to DIY, and i want to do it all at once because an alignment is needed after the job.

    part number is 48231-47360

    i tried to check for alternatives on rockauto, KYB, etc but no alternative part seems to exist.
    on moog`s website, the part finder does not works what a dumpster fire of a company

    So is there another spring i can use for exemple from a matrix or whatever ? an harder / longer spring would be even better. (ps : i know about priusoffroad kit, but the price in CAD is horrendous plus they dont ship here) what would you do ?

    What does a "worn out back suspension" look like and feel like? Is it noticeably squatting low in the back? Are the stock springs cracked? Why isn't the front end equally 'worn out'? How many miles are on this old worn out Gen4?


    I'm at 278k miles on my hard working '19 and the suspension feels great. Like new I might say, but I don't know what that feels like.:) I bought it with 232k mi last December. I can tell it was used commercially with the original owner, but well maintained. Still doesn't use oil at 6-7k mi oil changes. M1 oil and filter.
    I drive ~1400 miles per week as a courier hauling heavy coolers with water treatment samples inside and other equipment for the nat gas and electric companies in the area.

    2017 prius prime bought new in june 2017. Now at 210k km

    I know my back suspension is bad because it's squatting low yes. And when i have passengers, on a bad road, the back can bottom out. Also my low beams are a bit high.
    i drive my car since new and i feel the difference. But even now it still drives better than some hyundai POS lol.

    I dont really have problems on the front but still i bought KYB quick struts as a replacement since at 200k it's end of life, and since the car needs an alignement after, i want to do the back and the front and send the car for alignment once.
    All before winter

    The car is low to the ground to begin with; dropping another 300-500 lbs in the rear seat a couple times a months will probably bottom it out a lot more than usual. That doesn't mean the suspension is bad. There's a max. load limit plaque in the drivers door jam.

    FWIW: In my experience; aftermarket struts/full strut kits are usually a lot softer than OEM; so it'll probably worsen your current issue. I believe the standard Prius and Prime share the same strut assembly; but the Prime has a much larger and heavier traction pack - so your already off to a bad start. Replacing the OEM strut spring with a heavy-duty over-loader spring will likely solve your issue. Ask a very good local suspension shop for recommendations.
