Notice how most of the "members" supporting PFK are newbies?

Two weeks ago, this very thing happened at GreenHybrid - a troller there joined as 1-2 dozen members to talk to himself.

Actually, it looks like the only one supporting him is malorn. Even the newbies are pointing out his Bermanesque ability to ignore facts contrary to his opinion and to cherrypick statements from peoples' posts to criticize the way the message is being said while conveniently ignoring the message.

And well you should be. Intelligence is un-American. :D :D

Seriously, if you continue to participate in internet chat boards, you will need a thick skin, because Prius Chat is one of the most civil boards around. You will face personal attacks and insults. But you will also find intelligent debate. The trick is to let the angry replies roll off your back, and give proper consideration to the civil ones. It's not for everyone. Lots of people never go on the net because they just don't like the acrimony. It's a decision you have to make for yourself: If you enjoy the discussion, stick around. But the internet is not like a high school debate, because anyone can jump in at any time and say whatever they like.

Note also, that there is a lot of anger here against GM because of their history, and because of their present business choices, widely regarded as obstructionist and contrary to the national interest (from the point of view of a largely environmentalist crowd). So when you boost GM here it's kind of like defending slavery at an NAACP conference.

No, clothing is not optional in Fred's: It is prohibited. The horse may stay as long as it is not wearing any clothing.

My point was that just as we cannot know if PFR is telling us the truth about his age, we cannot know if you are telling us the truth when you imply (by your user name) that you are unclothed.

As has been remarked elsewhere, "On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog." Thus, rather than worry about whether people are who or what they claim, I just read their words. I don't care how old PFR is. He is civil in his defense of mistaken arguments. So for me, that's who he is.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nerfer @ Feb 15 2007, 08:16 AM) </div>
Exactly.

As stated before, I disagree with PFR. He is young and inexperienced. But as long as he believes his own arguments (which I think he does) and makes them civilly (which he definitely does) then he is not a troll.

I've been a member since February of 2004, a month after I bought my Prius. I don't support PFR's arguments, which I think are entirely wrong-headed (attributable to his youth). But I do support his claim that he is not a troll.

A little more on the GH disruption, as the most disruptive sock was banned, another "friend" got roudy. Virtually all of them joined Jan 15. It happens.

Interesting spin on the situation. It would be better if facts even tangently supported it. Okay, so the poster immediately previous to yours has only made a couple dozen posts on this forum (but has been a member for several months), and supported PFR's right to post, even while disagreeing with him (as do I). Looking back thru the history of this, I don't see anybody joining even close to the date of PFR. (The Montana engineer joined the month previous, but hasn't been a PFR lackey, so I don't think this is what you meant). So unless he's been diabolically planning this "attack" for many months, I think your claim falls flat on its face. It's time to let this go.

Oops, I better quick make 14 more posts, so I don't get considered a "newbie" by Delta Flyer.

Edit: Hey, it looks like my avatar update worked. I wanted something a little more seasonal, took this picture yesterday.

Thank you. This is my last post. I dont try to cherry pick only statements i like, and in fact near the beginning, I went through and I tried to addresseveryone one at a time. It was simply too lenghy and took to long. Also, I dont think ive heard a reasonable counterpoint at all lately, either flaming nad sometimes defenders, but neither really contribting to the orginal topic. I appreciate tho eaffort, but I would like anyone to point out the all of these false arguements or why i am 'completely wrong headed. for anyone to post again, I repeat, read all of my posts as I believe I have addressed pretty much all the major points.

The last point(s) I want to make is that GM has been doing a lot of positive things lately and I beive they are on the right track. Reclaiming the car market as well as emerging ones as the hybrid well help, as you can start to see some fruits of their labor. The volt? How bout hte Saturn Aura?

The Top three contenders for North American Car of the Year. Toyota Camry-89 points. Honda Fit-176 points. First Place. Saturn Aura- 205 points. At least someone aknowlege this. Give them a try to anyone that will listen. I dont see how another option could hurt. Thats it. Obviously if youre not gunna liste, youre not gunna listen. But there it is.

http://thefraserdomain.typepad.com/energy/...want_.html#more
This paints realistic picture of the auto enviroment especially high mileage ones like the prius. Outside of the US, in the rest of the world, there are 38 vehicles that have above 50 mile per gallon averages. 34 use clean diesel technology. Still doubt the diesel?

Well thats it folks. Im finished. Im taking this site off my bookmarks and likely never coming back. Thank you for whatever enlightenment I may have gained during my stay here. It wasnt meant to be perminant, and its been about a week now, and this is just cutting into my time wayy to much, and I fail to see the point anymore, as I think Ive already addressed all the points. If you are interested, read everything I have said, as well as comments on those. unfortunately I think youll have to find another person to talk to about it. I am off to my usual buisneess now, or whatever you think 8th graders do in their spare time. Hang out with friends, surf youtube, myspace, IM, play guitar, whatever. And Spring Break has just begun, so im in a good mood. Well see you all, have a nice life.

Keeping an open mind doesnt hurt.

Yeah, ok, as so often, I am late to the party, but can't resist putting in my two cents' worth...

First...to those who questioned how an 8th grader might be online at 2.30am on a school night...so shoot us...some parents do sleep at night, once the kids don't need feeding every coupla hours, and ALL of 'em, at this point, can get around any kind of parental locks you want to try to install. Only solution to this one is to keep the only computer in the home in the parents' bedroom--and I can guarantee you--that ain't happening. Never mind that lots and lots and lots of households have at least one laptop. Don't even START with me about hanging out on chat boards instead of doing homework...

That said...PFR is NOT a middle school kid anyway. Yeah, I noted his "I IM a lot, so that's why I can't type," but it just doesn't fly...My degree is in Journalism...a kid with that kind of vocabulary and logic is NOT going to go into such lengthy detail that is so bad grammatically (especially after being called on it by those he is trying to inform/influence/whatever). THAT is a grown-up thing. PFR's a troll. Malorn isn't a troll--just ineducable. WHY either one of them chooses to hang out here for however long is an entirely different question.

OTOH, I do believe there were many interesting points brought up in this discussion, so it wasn't a total loss.

I don't recall the exact threads (I claim senior moments, thanks), but every time we've had someone claiming to be a kid, if they were in fact who they said they were (yeah, yeah...he she whatever...it's 4am--you go fill in the PC bits--I'm too tired)--they always cleaned up the typing in order to help substantiate whatever argument...and more than one of them also posted at hours that seemed suspicious. In the best of all possible worlds, yeah, we'd have the computers on lockdown at times the kid(s) is/are supposed to be doing something else. This ain't the best of all possible worlds. At least we know that he's HERE, thanks to the dog...

Yeah, bottom line...I don't know or particularly care who PFR "really" is--he just sure as hell is not a kid, and that, for me, is the key.

Just curious. How did you know he was up until 2:30 am? If it was from his location, why believe he was truthful about where he is from, but on the other hand not believe he's in eight grade? Can't you just type in any location? Maybe I just missed it in his long posts that he said he was up that late.

My kid's school have some pretty amazing students, from musicians to golfers (Wie), to some perfect SAT scores. so I find it believable he could be who he says he is and awake till 2:30.

There does seem to be a gleeful desire by some to see GM fail.

The secret to a good lie is to tell as much of the truth as possible. Why lie about the location?

Personally I'm not so gleeful at seeing GM fail as wanting them to recognize their bad decisions and do something. In lieu of that, I don't want to see them rewarded with a big fat parachute with my taxes if they continue to act stupid.

As to my remark that most of the members supporting PFK were newbies - some were then established members chimed in more. Was just saying that I've witnessed a situation at GH one troller joined 1-2 dozen times and they befriended thamselves....a lot of BS can be smelled befoe it's proven. ;)

efusco and myself recently visited TDI Forums to respond to the hybrid-bashers - some of it was utter gearhead nonsense. It was just a couple of days - persisting would be trolling. PFK is gone - Turn Out The Lights the Party's Over.
