AuxBox shut itself off suddenly after a few hours of use...

Weird. As far as I know, the Aux box is all passive, but I guess it could overheat. I've not had any problems with it on trips or otherwise. I mounted mine to the frame bracket behind the AC vent and beside the radio on the passenger side, and it seems like it wouldn't get too hot there, but you never know. Could be some intermittent cable short or something, too. You might check for a loose cable and see how hot the box feels after using it for a while.

I just purchased an AUX-BOX, only to realize that there was an adapter called AB-TOYT that I needed in order to have it connect with my 2005 Prius receiver. Cardomain.com did not carry that part, so I found another online company that did: logjamelectronics.com. I don't know if you did the install yourself on your AUX-BOX, but I noticed that one of the brown wires on the AB-TOY cable was not attached on the large connector end. So I was very interested to see this notice on the logjamelectronics web page describing the AB-TOY cable:

IMPORTANT NOTE: The AB-TOY ships from the manufacturer with a brown wire loose and not connected to the 12-pin connector. This wire is stripped of about 1/8" of insulation and is a possible hazard if installed as is. This wire is not used and should be snipped just below the black wire-wrap surrounding all of the wires in the bundle.

Maybe this loose wire is your culprit? I'm snipping mine right now ...!

I installed it with the TOYX cable, and there was an unused connector, a wire with a female socket to daisy chain something else in if I remember correctly. I don't remember any bare wire with stripped insulation, though.

I had the same experience with my Auxbox on a long car trip, but when I stopped for gas it reset itself. It has not happened since, but I also am going to look for this brown wire.
