I think they're talking about the "soft" override, which is done by "secret" touches on the screen.

I also have the $99 unit enroute from Coastal. It's a hardware override that hopefully won't be affected by 6.1.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll post my results as soon as I install the 6.1 and Lockpick.

According to the email I received today from Kelley at Coastal, the Basic Lockopick will NOT work with the upgraded 6.1 software. The only thing that WILL work with the Basic Lockpick is the "I AGREE" override. For $99.00 I will continue to tap the I AGREE. I cancelled my order for the Lockpick and just ordered the EV mod. I would rather have the updated software and navigation than the older 5.1.

I just spoke to Kelley at Coastal again this morning and I made a mistake. I accidently ordered the Basic Lockpick for the 2004-2005, instead of the 2006 I bought on 08-12-06. Kelley checked and confirmed that the Basic Lockpick WILL work just fine on my 2006 so I will report my results once I receive it and complete the install.

I bought the new 6.1 GPS DVD, upgrading from 4.1. The system with the 6.1 will not work, giving a "map data not found" error. When I revert back to 4.1 DVD, everything works fine.

Does the 6.1 work out of the box, or is there something I need to do first? Has anyone else encountered this?

You may have gotten the wrong version of 6.1. There is one for the older (04 & 05) low resolution MDFs and another for the newer high resolution screens (06 & 07). The two are not compatible.

The real question is "Has anyone else tried installing 6.1 on an '05?"

Did you get it from your dealer? I would hope whoever you got it from knew you have an '05 Prius. Maybe it looks for the data in a different file or filename.

If you did specify, I don't know what could be wrong. Ask whoever you purchased it from.

Is that disc the version 4.2? That's what I have on my 2005. Do you have an MD5SUM on the relevant file?

I'm thinking seriously about ordering 6.1 through Jesse.

    Thanks.

Success! I installed the 6.1 software ($250.00 at a dealer in Culpeper, VA) and the Basic Lockpick from Coastal and all works well!

Well count me in if anybody can do the experiment. I aquired DVD version 6.1 for my 06 Prius today and installed it. A couple of differences is that In-n-out has a POI logo now instead of just a burger POI and Domino's pizza shows up, did anybody else notice that domino's isn't included in 5.1 or was I just mistyping it.

Remember that when you burn a copy, the bitsetting has to be changed to DVD-ROM. When I made a disk without changing the booktype to DVD-ROM, the disk didn't work. On a side note, the 07 Lexus 6.1 DVD did not work in my 06 Prius.

I already have an iso of the Prius 6.1 disk for 06/07, so if someone could send me the LOADING.KWI for the HyCam or maybe we should try LOADING.KWI for the 5.1 of the 04/05. So send me either and I can try both.

    Nate,

I just got around to making a copy of the NAV DVD from '05 Prius. This was a straight DVD copy. However, my '05 has version 4.2, rather than 5.1.

Can you (or anyone else) confirm that the LOADING.KWI file is the same for 4.2 as it is for 5.1?

The file length on 4.2 is 52,234,240 bytes, and the MD5SUM is 32c92349f42b873ffed4b17eb1ef2eab.

If it is, then I can make the hybrid disc using the 4.2 LOADING.KWI file. Otherwise, I'll have to get a copy from a friend with a Prius that's a month or two newer than mine. I got my Prius in mid August of 2005, and apparently the version 5.1 DVD came out just after that.

    Thanks for any info.

The file length on my 5.1 disk is precisely the same as what you found on your 4.2 disk. Also the MD5SUM is precisely the same as you have listed above. I think you can safely assume it is exactly the same file on both the 4.2 and 5.1 disks.

Well, I wouldn't try to calculate the odds, but with those two items identical, the probability that they aren't the same is essentially zero. I don't know how it would be possible to have the same file length and MD5SUM otherwise.

After I get the 6.1 DVD, I'll do a comparison of the two files.

I'll be ordering the 6.1 DVD from Jesse tomorrow (assuming he's at work).

    Thanks for the confirmation.

Yeah, well I have a 2005 and also have the Ultimate Lockpick kit installed. Prior to replacing version 4.2 everything worked great, could use the phone and mapping all of the time. Now with 6.1 installed, my mapping is back to Toyota lockout but the phone still works all the time. That is pretty upsetting. I guess I could just put 4.2 back in but then I do not have the newest mapping and I go to some remote areas at times.

If you make a hybrid disk, mentioned earlier in the thread, you can have the best of both worlds... new maps, plus all the Ultimate Lockpick features. I have a 2005 with Ultimate Lockpick also, and I plan to make the hybrid disk, as soon as I can make an iso image of the 6.1 disk.

if you manage that, can you post the iso in a newsgroup or something, so i can download it? (aim works too!) :)

The question is, does that violate copyright? I don't know. If you have the burner that handles DL dvds, you shouldn't have that much trouble making your own dvd. Just see Nate's 2nd post in this thread. If you don't, then you won't be able to burn the ~8G dvd anyway.

I do intend to make my own hybrid dvd as well. I'm just waiting for my 6.1 dvd to arrive (just ordered it from Jesse yesterday). I'm just not sure about the legality of posting it.

I just got my brand new 6.1 DVD home to load into my 2004 Prius. I had 4.2 previously as well as the Coastal lockpick (before it was even called a lockpick!). To my dismay, the lockpick no longer worked and as such found your thread to create a hybrid disc (4.2 and 6.1).

I need to pick up the dual layer DVDs tomorrow, so I thought I'd just snap back in my 4.2 disc until I could create one, and lo and behold, the lockpick no longer works with my 4.2 disc either! I even tried to manually press the "hidden" buttons in the volume screen to no avail.

Has anyone seen this? Suggestions?? Help!?!?!

Did you remove power from the NAV unit before you reloaded 4.2? I believe you need to do that, to force a firmware reload from DVD. Once the firmware revision has been incremented upward, it will not revert downward, unless you remove power and clear all memory in the NAV unit. Then it will accept the firmware from the next DVD that is inserted.
