Hi all... I'm in the process of installing the lockpick 3 on my 2007. I'm taking it slow... and so far it's going OK. But now I'm stuck.
I've removed both of the 10mm bolts on the monitor. But I can't get the monitor out. What's the best way to remove it? Does it pop out from the top? I'm using a set of those plastic tools that were recommended in a different thread... I'm just not getting anywhere. Where's the best place to grab it? Does anybody have any advice?
I've been trying to be a little more gentle with the monitor than I was with the panels....

    Thanks!

Thanks... I got it. It was just a matter of popping out the top of the monitor. Kinda scary... :)

Use Coastal's instructions. They are very straight forward. Be careful not to scratch the car with the sharp edges of the monitor. Several folks have reported putting it on the dash and being sorry they did so without a protective towel placed on the dash first.

I am thinking about ordering the (ultimate?) lockpick 3 for my 2007, as well...do you know the difference? ...and where did you get the "tools" ? I did a search, but came up empty...

If you have any, really, any suggestions...please let me know...

how did yours turn out...??? did costal have instructions or did you find more here somewhere??
    thanks

Somewhere in this forum you'll find Chris Dragon's Stereo Accessory Installation Guide for his 2004 Prius, complete with pictures. It's a great guide, much better than the Coastal instructions, but I found that the Coastal instructions nicely complement Chris's guide.

Seriously, all you need is a Philips screwdriver and a 10mm socket on an extension, plus a small flat blade screwdriver to help yank ou the first plastic "Christmas tree" connector on the lower center panel. That's it. Plus the towel on the dashboard.

I did the Lockpick install this past Sunday, and it was easy with the above-mentioned documentation. The dash really just pops apart.

I ended up putting panel mount RCA connectors on the lower part of the vent panel that's to the right of the radio. PM me if you'd like some pictures or a copy of Chris's guide.

With the dash apart it looks ugly, but putting the dash back together is 5 minutes work.

Does this work with the NAVI and let you do your thing while driving

    I don't have Navi, so I don't know.

But the Lockpick 3 simply gives you a new Audio mode called "Toyota DVD Player". This mode takes audio/video input from the inputs provided by the Lockpick. When the screen is in this mode, you get the regular Sound button that gives you access to bass/treble/fader, and you also get an extra button for Screen. Hit that, and the screen switches to whatever is coming in through the Lockpick video connector.

It shouldn't affect the Navi one bit, because it's just another stereo mode and the stereo is unrelated to the Navi. If you don't have any problems switching among AM/FM/CD now, then the Lockpick and its additional DVD mode for the stereo shouldn't have any effect on navi.

So a few questions I couldn't find answers to on their website: Does the lockpick permenently change your prius in anyway, or is it just something you 'plug' in so to speak and can take out when you go for toyota servicing? Basically my concern is my warrenty!!

If you're talking about the basic Lockpick, it just plugs in (fairly easy on the '05 with Nav). I'm not certain how difficult it is with later models. I wouldn't be concerned about warranty, unless you're talking about an MFD failure. With normal servicing, I doubt anyone would even notice it's there.

I'm still a little scared of the idea. This is my first car and repair payments would kill me, haha.
