Hi All!!! I am the proud owner of a brand new 2007 Prius with pkg 6. I absolutely love this car! I do have a question though. While the salesman was giving me the grand tour and showing me how to use the Nav system he left his fingerprints all over the screen. I read that you should never use any type of solvent or liquid cleaner on the screen. I have a very soft cloth and used that to no avail. The fingerprints will not budge. Any other suggestions out there? I would think this would be a very common problem. Thanks for any input. Jillie

I've used one of those microfiber mitts and it works pretty well. I've also used a damp paper towel.

Once you get it clean, suggest that you get a screen protector, such as from www.screenpatronus.com or another company.

I use the premoistened wipes made for computer monitors. I got mine at Compusa but imagine they would be available at most electronics or office supply stores.

:) I keep a small micro-fiber cloth in the drawer below the center console for cleaning the MFD - the kind used to clean eyeglasses. Does the trick without moisture.

TIP: Clean the MFD with the Prius OFF to avoid inadvertantly making changes in the setup.

First, clean the screen while the car is off.

I use a lint-free cloth and Kensington screen cleaner both made for cleaning laptop screens.

Once I had it clean, I put a screen protector on it.

BTW for the plastic on the cup holders and under the screen I use Meguiar's PlastX and a microfiber cloth. I use a swifer duster for dusting between cleanings.

I bought a screen protector form http://www.nushield.com along with the klearScreen wipes they sell. The screen fits perfectly and you cant tell its there. The wipes I bought came with a small microfiber cloth. A quick pass with the cloth wipes the fingerprints right off. I have been using the KlearScreen wipes for years and they work very well. It usually keeps monitors and LCDs dust free for months.

You could take it back and demand a new car! And in the future, always check the PH of your sales person to make sure they are a alkaline, not acidic.

I bought at Walmart, those individuallly packaged wipes for cleaning lenses on your eyeglasses. When fingerprints crop up on the screen, I take out one of these and clean the screen; and since the wipe is still damp, I do a little dusting all around inside the front of the car. Nice little touch up.

You should never use anything containing amonia (aka windex) on LCD screens. At almost any Apple store/CompUSA you can pick up (For $10) a laptop screen cleaning kit containing a rag and a solution perfect for cleaning your screen.

Do you know which screen protector you bought. I just chatted online with one of their reps and they could not tell me which one would fit the Prius touch screen. Thanks!!!

You can navigate directly to the correct product on the NuShield website:

    www.nushield.com
on the left side is a vertical menu of products within categories
    scroll down past
    PDA SCREENS
    PDA/PHONE SCREENS
    GAMES & ACCESSORIES
    GPS NAVIGATION
    MONITORS
    TABLETS & LAPTOPS
    to
    CAR DISPLAYS

    Choose "TOYOTA"

On the resulting screen, look in the upper right corner for the box with the word TOYOTA at the top; there's a drop down box to "Select Your Model" of Toyota.

Looks like one item fits Prius 03-05 and another fits Prius 06-07. $12.99

    Good Luck

Thanks! Googling the subject says that isopropyl alcohol is safe. Isopropyl (not ordinary rubbing alcohol, which contains skin softeners and perfumes) is available for cheap at many pharmacies.

Driving gloves prevent smudges, but may not be practical for everyone.

I use microfiber bought in bulk at Sam's or Costco, with the worlds best glass cleaner, which is Stoner's Invisible Glass. Never had a problem with my other cars using this combo.

    Hi Russ,
We ordered their shields for our new cars. They came but the directions said to remove the film before installing. Nobody could find the film.
Nushield said they removed film and put "sticky" marker. Not on ours. So they gave us a "finger rub" technique that works.
Moral. DON'T spend an hour trying to find "film".

I am having the same problems. What was the "finger rub" technique?
