Just purchased a TCH for $2800 under MSRP. Good enough?

Just got done negotiating with a dealer in Chicago. Fully loaded Package D TCH for $28000 + tax title etc. for a grand total of $30700 out the door.

Is this a good deal? Could my friend have done better?

I am going to head out tomorrow to probe other dealerships but I thought I'd ask around here if there's been a better deal on this car yet?

    Thanks

Any help would be really appreciated guys. We haven't taken delivery of the car yet and I'm trying to save my friend (an Academic) as much as possible.

We were told the MSRP for the vehicle is $31000 for the fully loaded CH.

    Thanks in advance

    Go to Edmunds.com.
Find the car you want configured correctly.
Edmunds will give you 3 prices. Invoice, MSRP, What others are paying.
Then you'll have some good facts to assist your purchase.
I did this recently with the 2 Prius we bought. Got under invoice price.
Not sure what the story is on TCH--probably best to go to TCH board.

Have the final documents been signed yet? If so it may be too late to back out of the deal. If not, did your friend get quotes from multiple dealers? That's usually the best way to get the best price. Request quotes from as many dealers in your area as possible. Most dealers have an "Internet Quick Quote" form on their websites. If they don't, just call them. Take the lowest quote and use that as a negotiating point (having a spreadsheet or some other index of quotes is mighty helpful when you do this). Also check out www.carbuyingtips.com for more tips and things to watch out for.

I'm not sure what the supply and demand for a TCH is. It may be that you don't have a lot of negotiating room. On the other hand, the demand may be low enough that you can get close to invoice (whatever that is - I got about 4 different invoice prices from various sources for the Prius).

Ultimately - on a personal level - a car is worth what you're willing to pay for it. If you can't bear the thought of paying more than X for your car - don't. Don't rush your decision.

    Good luck!

I just configured the TMV price as $30600 including destination. Our price is $28000 even.

Seems like a great buy except I need to know if this kind of a deal has been seen before?

    Thanks
