    I actually have 2 questions.

    1. When do you get the Certificate of Title / Recall Letter? Same day when you have closed the deal and drive out with the car? OR do they have to send it to you. If so, how long does it take?

    2. Transfering or sending money. I was going to send the cash to the dealer but don't feel confortable doing it.
What the cheapest / safest way? I asked if the dealer had a bank account I could transfer the money to. avn't heard back.

I am from Canada and buying the car in the USA.

    Thanks

Any reputable dealer will want a certified check for the balance on the vehicle. As for the title on the vehicle, that is issued by the state where the vehicle is being sold not the dealer. The dealer will provide a bill of sale but not a Certificate of Title for the vehicle. Even if you pay cash for the vehicle you will still have a contract and a temporary (paper) plate to drive the vehicle.

In California the Certificate of Title usually takes 60 to 90 days to be processed and delivered from the DMV.

I paid for my last 3 cars with personal checks without any hassles. If you have a US$ check drawn on a US bank I wouldn't think there would be a problem. I suspect the dealer would get the title from the state DMV then mail it to you. Maybe a month. Maybe more but I have never bought a car out-of-state, never mind from another country. Good luck.

Yes.... I figure ~4k. Next year I heard the PRIUS will be build in the USA. ( Can anyone confirm this? ). Then I won't be paying duty then it will be ~6k.

    Thanks
