My 15k service is due, the dealership I've been taking it to wants $131.88, that's with a coupon ($159.95 without the coupon). Both prices seem steep to me, so I'm wondering what others have paid for their 15k service - I'm thinking I need to shop around.

    Thanks!

First, I would ask specifically what that dealership does for the 15,000 mile service. Check to see if that lines up exactly with what is in your "Passport to Performance" service schedule. Unfortunately, many Toyota dealerships have different ideas on what they need to do for certain services. Make sure what they tell you is what the book says, and depending on where you live, you might have many choices for service; shop around.

For me, my 15,000 mile service was done for 61.99 at Daytona Toyota. That was weird for me because my previous dealership, Karl Malone Toyota, charged the same amount for the 5,000 and 10,000 services, which are smaller compared to the 15,000. I would find the cheapest deal, and make sure that the dealership checks off what they did in your service schedule book. I thought my price was too good to be true, but if they sign it, it's their responsibility if anything goes wrong....
    Good luck

I have not spent a lot of time with my owner's manual, I need to look tonight, but can some tell me if the manual breaks down the services required at various intervals, like say, 5k, 10k, 15k miles?

I just brought my Prius in for an oil change at 15,000 and they asked if i wanted the Toyota Approved 15,000 mi service. When i asked to look at what they did it was little more than a glorified oil change anyway. For $141 it is a rip off, besides an oil and filter and lube the only thing extra is new air filter(which i just did myself anyway) and inspecting the steering and suspesion ect. Even the service advisor sheepishly admitted they do that anyway when they change the oil. They always do a good inspection to see if they can spot problems which of course makes them money. So i say forget all these mileage inspections, just get oil changes at the proper time and of course do the major things on time, like new spark plugs ect.

Ok...to answer my own previous question...I finally opened my owner's glove box folder. In it, there is a maintenance book (see picture), which detail the required maintenance at 5k miles intervals. It also say that if you get your service at a Toyota dealer, then ask them to stamp your book (see picture). I will be using this book religiously and document my own maintenance with receipts and dates. My 5k mile service is coming up quickly.
