Now see, the difference here is that you could've just posted the article...I know George Will is a Bushevik (even though he's actually started letting his brain work a little in the past year), and laughed my entire way through the article because I believe his opinion is just ridiculous. The premise of the argument is false. Maybe not about John Kerry, but not about all liberals.

But, instead of like what MJ did with the opinion piece from the Huffington Post, you had to post an additional little jab. And here's one back. Can't argue with FACT. (Sheesh!)

    #1: Attack Your Opponent
#2: Don't address any topics that your Opponent brings up
#3: Call your Opponent evil while confessing your moral upstandingness
#4: Bring up an unrelated wedge issue
    #5: Blame the media
    #6: Reductio ad Absurdum
    #7: Wear a "Compassionate Person's" clothing
    #8: Hijack the Argument
    #9: Play the Hate
    #10: Return to Start

Huh. I wouldn't have pegged Kow as the type who likes to pay higher taxes and wants to see more people on welfare.

The article mentions the AFL-CIO. That alone will render it ignored by the very factions that could effect change. The fact it was printed in Dollars and Sense magazine is moot. It would have been better for the owner of the site to link back to the original articles rather than copy and paste them into his own webpages. A private or personal website cannot be used in any citations for any research paper of worth. so you'd have to search them back to the originals.

I think it is more along the lines of how liberals exhibit the Stockholm Syndrome:

    1. they blame the victims - ward churchill saying the people in the towers were little eichmanns, or the cia or the mossad brought the towers down, -- there are varying degrees of blame here including not reading the tea leaves....

    and

    2. identify with the enemy - the iraqi's were better off with saddam, etc.... i cannot wait to see how the liberals will shoot down the poll that came out this weekend were 50% of Iraqi's said life was better now than under saddam.

Half of the people think it's better? That means the other half think it's not. How's that a convincing percentage?

At least give us a majority, here.

And Ward Churchill? Give me a break. The man has a singular focus, and that's educating the masses about the genocide of Native Americans. He's not mainstream, he doesn't have a weekly column in a major metropolitian newspaper, and any quotes he made about 9/11, while repugnant, were from his frame of reference, i.e, all whities kill Native Americans. How did you decide he would be a liberal poster boy?

You bringing him up is akin to me saying that Fred Phelps is the poster boy for the Religious Right. And he isn't.

i think 50% is huge in Iraq - it means that we are doing good there, and we should maintain our goals - it means we should not pull out - and it means they do not want us out yet. it takes the wind out of the Dems sails totally - if the poll were the opposite we would be hearing about it ad nauseum.

ward churchill and teaching are two oxymorons connected together by false constructs. he is a poster boy the same way sheehan is- the liberal establishment did NOT repudiate him or his statements - that means they tacitly agreed with him as they do sheehan. the mainstream media gives him and her tons of face time.

so prove me wrong - i think liberals for the most part suffer from the stockholm syndrome.

Lets see... an opposite poll, such as 50% think things aren't better having us there? Oh wait, thats what this poll says too!

Plus, livelychick, you have to remember, over in lala-bush land, 50% is a landslide win!

wrong again, read the poll. either way, you must be impressed that they also do NOT think there is a civil war going on too?

actually 49% is a win in Bush Land - only bacuse the dems run a looooooser like algore  and then they followed that up with D student john(ionlymarryrichwomen-warhero-lurch)kerry.

and so we have it from the liberals mouth -

you would have been against the civil war. you favor saddam killing his people - and torturing them - and using wmd's on them.

and hence the weakness of liberalism:
evil is good, good is evil, identify with the enemy, side against innocent victims - you guys did it with the soviets, you do it with the cubans and now you are doing it with chavez in venezuala. you long for saddam being back in power - the iraqi's were better with him there ---- until the poll tells you how false your constructs are.

try reading the case for democracy by sharansky - nobel prize winner. you could use the education from a person who has the credentials to teach.

You give him far too much credit, Scott. Read? A whole book? Not written by a pundit? You're kidding, right? :)

I got your post immediately, and it's been 23 years since I read that book (assignment in 1984 for 8th grade English...). Nice connection in thought, though!

And doc, since I know you probably think that colleges are "hotbeds of liberalism," then why would the liberal chancellor of University of Colorado say: "While Professor Churchill has the constitutional right to express his political views, his essay on 9/11 has outraged and appalled us and the general public."

For the majority of us liberals (I'm sure), his thoughts didn't even register because they were so preposterous. Kinda like (I hope) Fred Phelps' don't register with you because they are so preposterous. And I'm sure that you can find supporters of each in their respective camps. It doesn't make them poster boys. It just makes them part of the lunatic fringe. As a more centrist liberal, I don't listen to either one of them.

what is a centrist liberal? Does that mean you want to pull out of Iraq and redeploy to Okinawa like Murtha? Does that mean you only want to grant terrorists habeus corpus rights and nothing else - or you want to tap only their phones and not financial transactions?

perhaps you believe only in 2nd trimester abortions :D

Can you cite something or provide a link supporting this? I heard on the news this morning that it was 42%, so I looked it up to confirm.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17687430/

"For the first time since 2003, fewer than half in the country, 42 percent, said that life in Iraq now is better than it was under Saddam Hussein, the late dictator accused of murdering tens of thousands during a brutal regime."

"Only 18 percent of Iraqis have confidence in U.S. and coalition troops, and 86 percent are concerned that someone in their household will be a victim of violence."

Or are these just more of those pesky facts that are hard to argue with?
