Ok .... (taking deep breath, two deep breaths ... 100 deep breaths)...
    Ok.

I downloaded and printed out the PDF for "Installing the VAIS Technology AIC-100i in a Toyota Prius" that has been noted here a few times as the best directions (with pictures) for installing a Dice unit in a Prius.

All good through step 5 "Remove the Big White Box of Wires"

"Using the Phillips screwdriver or socket wrench, loosing the bolt on the top of the Big White Box..."

Uh - on my 2007 Prius Touring with BlueTooth but no NAV, there is no bolt on the Big White Box under the set of wires next to the air duct.

No, I'm SURE about this. I pulled the wires (without breaking them) clear of the top of the Big White Box and no bolt. It appears that it snaps into place instead. But I can't figure out how to "unsnap" it or whatever it I need to do to get the Big White Box out.

Anyone else run into this? What do I push/pull/pry or whatever to remove the Big White Box?

Here is a link to see the pics that show I don't have a bolt on my BigWhiteBox http://web.mac.com/olsonbw/iWeb/Bill%27s%2...igWhiteBox.html

Thanks in advance for you help.

I haven't pulled my 2007's dash apart yet, so I can't say for sure. On my 2005, the bolt was in quite deep above the white box. It would be out of sight in your pics. Do you see nothing when you look in parallel to the top of the box?

Another option, requiring a different contortion, would be to feed the wire in from the side and reach down through the center speaker hole to plug it in.

Or pop the bezel and flip the MFD out so you can plug in the DICE wire harness...

    Good luck!

I just did this on my 2007 and the bolt was hard to see - it was way back underneath the duct. I had to bend way down and shine a flashlight back there to see it. There was also a snap holding the bottom of the box in.

I read somewhere that the bolt could be loosened with a 10mm socket. I had to use a screwdriver and it was a pita.

    Thanks for the answers.

The picture in the instructions was pretty deceptive then if it is that far back. I'll take a look when I get home.

Well, I looked at the picture in the instructions (I haven't had time to open the dashboard of the Prius back up again) and my picture, I have to say that I absolutely should see the bolt mentioned unless it is totally under the vent, which it isn't in the instructions (see my first post for my pics).

I probably won't get to trying again until Saturday to open the dash again to look.

It is totally under the vent (lets see if I can draw a profile):

    ---------
    --------| <- vent
    ---------
    |- <- bolt
    -------------------
    ------------------| <-- white wire box
