But, as has been noted on many, many, many ... PriusChat polls--we are not...NOT...a scientifically valid sample! For one thing, if not THE thing...we are VERY "self-selected." I am pretty certain that MOST similar on-line communities will have more males than females. (For info about balanced sampling...see HERE.

 

I *NEVER* post such personal information on a public forum... it provides an age link to an email address... two other potential factors in identity theft. Not to accuse the OP of identity theft, but there's already too much personal information on the Internet.

Try "GOOGLE-ING" your name... it will surprise you what comes up.

I'm a 38 year old male. I am not suprised that so many males own this car, there is so much good geek stuff in it. (Or are the males the only ones who are on Priuschat talking about there cars.) I see a lot of older people around here driving the Prius. I do drive about 50 Prii per day, working for Toyota, at the port of Portland. We take the cars off of the dock, add some options and carpets and price them. Then we put them on trains and trucks.

I suspect that MOST Prius drivers are women. However, MOST Prius Chat posters are men. The 'net in general attracts more men.

 

How bizarre! My group is in the lead. I made us buy the car. However, at 55, I am 6 months away from the next grouping which is pathetically small! What's THAT all about?

I'm glad the big groups are in the middle age category, so that people can stop saying that the car is only for the old and feeble. I am old, but I am not feeble.

I'm F, by the way. My male partner went along with buying this, just as he did with the prior two purchases. I was scared after we bought it, because I was sure he would hate it. Its really his car, so that matters a lot. He LOVES it, the carpool lane, and the fact that the car is shaped like a bullet. I'm relieved. MPG are up to 48 now, and that's pretty good considering he drives the big hill every day.
