She was just sitting in the drive way minding her own business, when a crazy old lady hit her. Taking out her passenger door and mirror. OUCH! She only has 710 miles on her. She hasn't even been rode hard and put up wet yet!

That is so sad. My magnet grey 2007 now has 1300 miles on it. My wife went to the grocery store at about 400 miles, when some bozo smeared white paint on the right rear bumper from an old heap - pissed me off but nothing like yours. What does your insurance say? It's sad when a fine polite ride like a Prius gets ruthlessley whacked by an an idiot. Good luck!

    Lol

They sound like people on a bird forum when someone looses a beloved life long pet.

Yo this is a car that can’t feel pain and has no emotions whatsoever you can fix it or get a new one and not have to worry about it. I often wonder just how stable some of the people her are when it comes to loving their cars.

And that's the whole point. No need to be pissed.

Some people, though, refuse to believe that the machine can be fixed. No matter what, say they, it won't be "perfect" like it came off the assembly line, therefore it's by definition virtually worthless.

    Bah. It's just a car.

    sorry to hear that.

It's still your personal property. Why don't someone just drive a tractor trailer through your house? You won't get pissed right? You wouldn't mind, right?

The insurance will fix it, but they sent me to there body shop for estimate. After I left there I went to the Toyota body shop and they said they would fix it for the same cost, so I'm having it done there. It will take 3 or 4 days. I ordered my side mouldings and so I am hoping they will throw in the installation with the repair job. LOL

I love my wife. I love my kids.

In the end, my car is...a tool to help get through life, a mere physical possession. If I lose the car, so what? I'm insured. I get another.

If I lose my wife or kids...

Put your love and emotion where it counts. To love a car and to mourn for it like that is...weird.

You wanna see crazy people? Post on online pet forums.

I mean, come on. Its just some stupid bird, it can be replaced. Just go to the pet store and buy another one.

I was being serious about the online pet forums (yahoos...) but obviously not about the bird, just proving a point. Just because YOU don't share someone's interest or attachment to something doesn't mean that person is "unstable" or "weird". PLENTY of people think pet owners are unstable. My fiance has three ferrets and two of them underwent $1700 surgery last year and we get unending crap from people about it saying we should have just let them die. There are MANY people in the world, even people who are pet owners who view their pets as disposable and replacable, that doesn't make you unstable for caring more.

I would dare to say that most people, whether they're car enthusiasts or not, would be upset about their brand new car being damaged.

Sorry about your car! I am glad you and Lola weren't inside when this happened. I would be pretty upset if someone hits mine. I understand it is *just* a car, but I spent 14 months' stipend to pay for it. So, if someone else was careless enough to damage it ... and as someone already mentioned the resale value... and the pain to take to get it fixed, and dealing with insurance... gosh... I would be quite unhappy too.

Ok you can have whatever opinion you want but a car, computer, stereo, or tv are not living breathing feeling creatures. If I stick your TV with a knife it stops working end of story. If I stab your dog it cries out in pain, bleeds and I have to watch it die. Your TV does not get exited because you petted it or came home early. Your TV does not throw a fit if you don’t take it for a walk or play with it.

Sotimes I get the feeling here that if a mugger said give me your car or your first born some of you would say “ok dude her is my wife, kids, and the family dog just don’t hurt the car.” Without a second thought.

Hell if you made me choose between my birds and a car. You could have the car I have insurance. I lost 7 birds in an apartment fire 3 months ago and they each had their own personality. I can get more birds that look just like the ones I had before. I can even teach them to say the same things but none of them will be exactly the same. I can sell my prius and get another one that is the same color and for all purposes is the same car. Maybe a button is in a different spot from one year to the next but that is not going to bother me and I am not going to need a bereavement counselor.

i just cannot fathom morning for an inorganic non-living thing as if it once had life. I lost all my worldy possessions in that fire the only thing that I miss and can’t replace is the birds. I don’t care that my brand new HD-TV was reduced to a puddle of molten plastic I have a new one.

if you think that a non living thing can love, feel pain, show loyalty to you, or be a friend or what ever you have some issues and need help.

Now that being said. I would be mad if someone hit my care. I would not be happy about it. Am I going to be looking for emotional comfort for my damaged goods no I am not. Just fix it and get on with it.

OK, OK, I was just comiserating with a fellow Priod about damage to a tangable non-living thing that I admire. Yes, they are just cars, but it is a bummer when an inconvenience like this happens. As stated before, at least no one was injured. Yes, my wife and daughter are in another entire league. I hope that would be obvious. And yes pet forum posters, especially with no kids seem a bit unbalanced - but then again, we're all here looking at this. ;-)
