10,000 miles

    My Prius turned that figure on the way home from work the other day. While that's not much of a milestone to many people, it is in my case. By 10k miles, my VUE had been in the shop twice. First time, was to have tranny noises answered to. The fix was a total replacement. The second trip - to have the technician fix mistakes made during the swap.

    The Prius on the other hand, was only brought in once for its first oil change, and once to have the promised cruise control installed. I do still need to get back with the service department to have some clips replaced in the trunk that were missing when I bought the car. They were supposed to order them, and mail 'em to my house, but never did. Warranty repairs have been zero - the way a new vehicle should be. Thanx Toyota for the attention to detail, and for the attention to quality control.

    On the other hand, my Prius was in the shop for three weeks while they ordered and replaced the fuel tank and then another 48 hours while they figured out something about the check engine light.

    Since the new fuel tank it has been easier to fill the tank (10.8 gals last fillup immediately after the last bar started flashing) and the gauge has been much more accurate and consistent.

    Clearly Toyota quality was present but there were just a few glitches with my Prius.

    I also had a problem with my Smart Entry / Start. Toyota gave me 2 Prius keys but when I got home, I realized that one of the keys was to another Prius. They have been diligent in tracking down where my real key is. It only took about 10 days. They have called me every few days to give me an update so I feel they are really trying. They called me today & said they have it & all I need to do is come in & pick it up. I am going in first thing Tuesday morning. I hope it works!
