    Horny little things! Spring just arrived! So cute. Thanks for sharing.

    If I get any pics, I'll share too!

    *edit*

    I just checked the hummingbird migration map and they've just entered my state. They're on their way!

    Had a student in the field for about a month; for spare time recreation he set up a hummingbird feeder. After running out of real sugar, he refilled with nutrasweet and water.

    Please nobody do this! I cannot imagine a more diabolical way to do harm to these miraculous little birds.

    The graduate student, I breaded and fried.

    I read that when stuffed Hummingbirds were first sent to the British Museum the legs had broken off, that led an early belief that the birds never landed.

    At the San Diego Zoo there's a humming bird enclosure. They come right up to you sometimes.

    I love hummers!

    Those are some great pics :)

    This is the only one I have. I took it from across the road in Point Reyes National Seashore a couple weeks ago.

    Surely one of God's most miraculous critters!
    I spent hours watching them from a proch swing in Montana last summer. We don't see too many here in Wisconsin - but I remember they loved my husband's red hiking hat & would follow him around.
    I remember the hummingbird exhibit at the San Diego Zoo - one of my favorite sights (and that was back in the mid-60's). Glad to hear it's still there!

    ============
    An Aztec myth says that warriors who were killed in combat come back as hummingbirds. My son was killed in Iraq and I have had frequent hummingbird visitors since his death. Sometimes a pair will be waiting for me when I leave my house in the morning; sometimes waiting by my car door. I *know* that my son is checking up on me and that makes me smile.
