    Hello folks. Just bought a 07 Touring in Magnetic Grey w/ package #3. The vehicle is due to arrive this coming weekend. Can't wait to pick it up!!

    My question (and I'm sure there will be plenty more to come) is for all you 07 Touring owners. What do your stock rims look like? One of my local Toyota dealers has a white 07 Touring on the lot with rims that look exactly like the picture below.

    However, I have an 07 Prius brochure (the one with a magnetic grey Prius on the front cover) and the pictures of the Touring model in this brochure show a distinctly different looking 7-spoke rim. Sorry, but I cannot find an electronic copy of this particular brochure anywhere to show everyone. The 07 Prius brochure that is on Toyota's website is completely different than the one I have in my hands.

    I actually bought my Prius from a dealer out of state (South Carolina) and have not been able to confirm what my Touring edition rims will look like (because my Prius is currently at the US port waiting to be delivered to the dealer). I hope different regions of the country are NOT getting different style rims for their Touring models. I definitely prefer the rims in the above picture, over the ones I see in my brochure.

    Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!

    B) Welcome! My 07 Touring package #3 has exactly the rims shown in your picture. But they are not as nice as they look! They are a rather plain rim with plastic covers that make it look from a distance like solid alloy rims. I was disappointed at first, but they grew on me as other features impressed me. The wheels look better than the non-Touring and have 7 spokes verses the 6 on the regular edition.

    There is a wealth of info on this site....enjoy :D

    Here is a picture of my new touring #6. The rims look good but they have a plastice cover that you can remove if you like. this is my second prius in the last 6 months.

    Gadgetdad, good to hear your rims are the same as the ones in that picture. Hopefully, other owners in the southeast with a Touring will also chime in with a similar observation.

    Hazelnut, thanks for posting a pic of your touring. Unfortunately, it appears the bottom third of your picture got cut off. Therefore, I cannot see your rims.

    Hum... I did not notice any plastic covers/parts on the rims of the white touring that I saw at one of the local Toyota dealers. I'll have to go back and check it out again.

    This forum is great. I've learned more reading the various posts in this site during the past week, than I ever did from brochures, dealers, etc...

    Yes, that was my first post and I think the picture was too big, sorry. I have never posted to a forum before eventually I will get it. I just looked at my rims again. The outer cover is a light silver colored plastic and underneath is a darker metal alloy rim. It is hard to see in the picture. It is a beautiful car. You will love it.

    I have the 07 Touring with the same wheels, But just out of curiousity, has anyone taken the covers off of them? I am a little scared to pull on the covers. If anyone has been daring enough to do so, could you please post a picture.

    I just got a touring as well, and have the wheel covers. All the tourings I saw while buying mine had the covers.

    You can pull the covers off the Touring wheels, but there will be a (perhaps ugly) hole in the centre. I've read the Toyota "inserts" will fit the hole, making the wheels look fine. Some like the wheels, some think they are not so attractive. At least you have options.

    Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

    Warwind, your link to that other thread explains it all. Now I understand what everyone is saying about being able to take off the outer plastic cover. The 07 Prius brochure I have shows the Touring model rims without the plastic covers. This explains why I was seeing a difference between the vehicle in the brochure and the one on the dealer's lot. I guess Toyota later decided to add these plastic covers to give the rims a more "sporty" appearance.

    Personally, I like the look of these rims with the covers on. They make the wheels look larger in diameter and thus more sporty... at least to me.

    Again, many thanks for the clarification.

    Now, if this weekend would just hurry up and get here so I can pick up my Prius!!

    On the subject of the small center caps on the touring wheels, my dealer here in suburban Philadelphia is saying he cannot find a center cap that will fit to cover that hole in the alloy wheel.

    Does anyone have a part number on tha caps that fit that I could give the parts guy to look up. I see other have these; my dealer seems to think they don't exist.

    Any guidance appraciated!

    Hi Chris - the center caps from a non-touring Prius will fit in the center of the alloys of a Touring Prius. I ordered mine from http://www.toyotaoemparts.com at the suggestion of a poster on this forum. You can find them under this category : Wheels, Covers and trim, Center cap, Center cap. Order them for the 2005-2006 Prius - they are the same as 2007. In my opinion (my wife agrees) the wheels look better without the big silver covers than with. The center caps help the wheels to look more complete. Seemed kind of strange to me that they would cover an alloy wheel (that we paid extra for) with a plastic cover.

    Anyway, good luck!

    Brian

    :) Here's how the 2007 Touring "stock" rims look without the wheel covers:

    [attachmentid=7229]
    [attachmentid=7230]

    The center caps are standard Prius caps and should be available from Toyota dealers. I believe they run a little over $10 each and are the same caps used on the 2004-2007 'standard' Prius. They are chromed high-quality plastic and plug into the Touring Edition wheels without any problems.

    I had a couple of caps left over from my 2004 Prius which fit very well. I ultimately chose to stay with the wheel covers.

    And be careful with them when you get them!!!

    My Significant Other Body scraped a curb with mine.

    Rim + Cover = ~470 smackeroos. :mellow:
