Yesterday I took my 2006 through an automatic carwash with an underbody spray, something I do regularly.Never had a proplem before, but this time when it came time to drive out, it would not go out of park. I went through the start up drill 1/2 dozen time and finally it went into neutral so I pushed it out. After pushing it out, it went into drive as usual and I drove straight to the dealer who checked things out, ran codes etc. and found no problem. Dealer said never to run through an underbody spray. Any one ever hear of this or have a similar experience? Does this sound right to you?

I have ran our 07 prius through a laser automatic wash which has the underbody high pressure wash never encountered a problem have done this 4 times now. but on this wash you can drive through it slow or fast I go through in between not fast but not real slow like I used to do with our jeep.

    Interesting question

I usually go through the ones with underbody wash and have had no problems.

I've never had any problems with taking our '05 through a wash with underbody spray (done it half a dozen times, or so). The "advice" from the dealer sounds like BS to me; the Prius should be the same as any other car when it comes to this and I've never heard anything that suggests any differently.

Basically, it sounds like you took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it, so they just decided to tell you never to do the thing that possibly caused the problem. Let's just say I'm highly suspicious of dealer suggestions without any justification.

I agree with the BS comment. I think that the dealer is trying to get a diagnostic fee out of me on something that should be covered by warranty. If a carwash does have that effect, then it is a design flaw in the car.
