We just got a 2007 Prius...still getting used to it. So, far love it. Looking around, I found this "piece" in the glove box, any ideas what it is?

    It's a tray!
I'm thinking about throwing mine out, kind of useless, and makes a rattle.

Portable sushi tray according to my dealer....

Actually, it's just a little shelf that goes in your top glove box. I'm really not sure what to put on it so far though. It's a bit small for most maps. I guess a little notebook or misc. loose items could fit on it. I'm still searching for something to put on it.

It is the "tray" that seats in the arm rest compartment. I use it to keep my loose change it it.

I think not. It looks much shallower than the armrest tray (unless that's changed in the '07). I agree with the previous posters that it's probably the tray that goes in the upper glove compartment.

I keep a microfiber cloth for cleaning the MFD in the top half of the glove box. If the tray rattles, I'd suggest either tossing it, or gluing it in place.

If it rattles, it's probably not in it's place, which I believe is about half way up in the upper glove box.

It's a shelf for the upper glove box. When seated properly it doesn't rattle.

I've got a number of things up there and do use the shelf. Use it or not. But I wouldn't toss it. When you sell your Prius you'll want it for the next owner.

That's what I do with mine too. The tray is often shipped sitting on the bottom of the top glove box, instead of being in place. It divides the top glove box in half, making two smaller areas. Just slide it in.

I put a pen and a small pad there for logging mileage numbers when I fill the tank. Course, I don't fill up often enough to get in the habit so I forget a lot.

Yes, It's a little removable shelf. If installed properly, it doesn't rattle. I keep my sunglasses there, so they don't get lost in the "main" glove box.

It's the shelf for the upper glovebox. Make sure when you install it that it slots in. Don't lay it on top.

It should be secured when installed properly.

So wait... you guys are saying it's the upper shelf for the glove box? :p

Couldn't resist. How many times do we need to state the same thing? ohhh! It's the upper shelf to the glove box! :D

Hey, if we said it was really the antenna for the intergalactic resonator, would you believe us?
And that unearthly glow from the glovebox at night, well, that's too scary a truth to reveal. You just don't wanna know.

It's a shelf for the upper glovebox.

I keep my Fastrak transponder there. The digital air pressure meter, and other junk can then go beneath it, and the lower glovebox can then be used for the bulkier junk and manuals.

You know there's a sunglasses holder, right? It's right by the dome light controls. I keep my registration and insurance card in the sunglasses holder, as I find sunglasses annoying personally.

What's amusing is that the owner's manual says explicitly NOT to put glasses up there, because that compartment gets very hot when the car is in the sun and whatever's in there can get damaged.

Toyota's lawyers are on overtime. They're nuts. It's a nanny company, which does bug me.
