I noticed when the key is taken out of the keyslot, there is a falshing red light that goes flashing until the key get inserted again.

I believe this light has a car symbol with a key printed on it, I thought the "Immobilser".

So, is this normal?? Sure seem strange to do this and have this light blinking on the instrument cluster when your car is parked all night.

Everything seems normal when key is inserted and when car is driven.

It's the immobilizer system, telling you that the car can't be started because the matched key isn't inserted.

When you're trying to start the car and it won't, that light is a very good thing to have to help track down the problem.

Otherwise, it's just like a flashing alarm light on any other car. I'm alive, I'm alarmed, be aware.

    Thanks!

For a moment, I thought I would have to send my car back to the workshop for a check-up.

This week has been a pretty good first week with the Prius. The colleagues at the office are talking about the new Hydrid car that is at the office parking lot.

I have done about 450Km with 60% of the tank still full.

This is really awesome as 450Km would be the time to go to the gas station to pump up another 55 litres with my previous Accord.

    It's in your Owner's Manual - page 7 and page 22.

Lots of good info in the manual. I suppose the "Singapore" Manual is written in English.

Yes, thanks...it written in English but us folks in Singapore can only read Singlish. :) Incidientially, thanks to your lead, I've managed to locate the description in Page 19.

But seriously, lots of info...that why it's hard to locate. I have tried looking at the warning light secton for the instrument cluster and found nothing.

Many years training in aviation policy of "Dark Cockpit" principle has lead to this...what to do?? If everything is fine, no light shall flash or illuminate. I got immobliser in my previous Accord as and it's never light up except for the few first seconds of engine start or IG-ON as you call it.

Like thay say, " When in Rome, do as the Romans do......................."

I would just have to accept flashing immobliser light........ :)

Read the fine manual that came with your shiny new toy. It's full of all of this information.
