Mark: You're talking about the theoretical political system of elected positions and divisions of power.

I'm talking about capitalism, which guarantees the concentration of wealth, and with it the concentration of power; and which also systematically excludes a significant proportion of the people from the mainstream economy, forcing them into an underground (sometimes criminal) economy to keep the body alive.

Real democracy is not possible under a capitalist economic system because concentrated wealth will always dominate and corrupt the process.

Yesterday the joker said, "we must encourage Americans to use less (illegal) drugs" as opposed to what--encouraging them to use more drugs??!! Is English truly his first language?? Harder to believe each time he opens his mouth

    The bottom line is this:

If you want to rely on the government for your welfare and well being - be a democrat/liberal

If you have the confidence to make it on your own - be a republican/conservative.

get rid of pork = line item veto

Bush is a good man doing a good job.

    Haliburton is a great company.

    end of story

My advice don't rely on the govt for anything

What about those of us who are doing very nicely, thank you very much, but who think that the people who've never been given a chance deserve something also?

There's a widespread myth that anyone with a bit of initiative can become wealthy, and that only the lazy are poor. Yet the fact is that the hardest-working Americans are the poorest, and that opportunity exists for relatively few people who had the good luck to be at the right place at the right time, or had the good fortune to have access to a good education.

I give to charity, but I cannot create fairness in our economic system. We need systemic changes for that.

There's another reason, though, for a rich person to be progressive rather than conservative: The present neo-cons are running this country bankrupt. And while the poor will suffer the most from a general economic collapse, the rich will suffer too. Stupid government is bad for everyone.

Not one of these points has any basis in fact. Reality is apparently a state that you're not familiar with. Can we copy this into the "Talk like a Republican thread..."

    Refute his claims, then.

    What is wrong with Haliburton?

Why is Bush a bad man doing an easy job?

This is easily the most ludicrous statement I've ever read here on PC, and that's saying something!

I spose Gore would have done a better job had he been elected? I think not. Kerry? He's a fool. Our next batch of flunkies, Obama, no experience in anything worthy of a government office. Clinton? riding the coattails of her sex craized husband. Do I thnk bush is doing a good job? Um, not anymore, he has his foot wedged tightly in his mouth now with no hope of it ever seeing daylight. After 9/11, he showed promise of being a strong, dont screw with the US president, something that was truely missing in Clinton. He screwed up though by going after Saddam, and then not having a way to clean up afterwards. As far as economics go, after Reagon and Bush 1, the economy was very strong, then clinton came along and it went downhill. Economics do not happen in the here and now, but years down the line after policies are put in place. The economy is still strong considering that fuel costs are so high, and I for one thought that it would tank due to trickle down. He may be hated, but he is still doing at least something right. We need to elect a strong president to replace him, but I have yet to see any candidate that can fit the bill. I surely do NOT want to see tail between the legs obama elected, not unless you like watching planes fly into buildings.

For those who mentioned those who feed off the government, just remember new orleans after the hurricane and all those "poor" people who couldnt figure out that if they put one foot in front of the other and head in the right direction, they will find all the help they need instead of sitting on their butts waiting for it to come to them. Wlefare is the reason for that fiasco, not Bush, not Feema. IF they can revamp the welfare system so that these people would be able to think and do for themselves instead of the government, then this country would be in much better shape. Welfare was mainly to help those who could not help themselves, not for lazy people to sit around, get fat and feed off the government. If people want to have money, work for it. Instead of handing people checks, put them to work, if they are too stupid to work, teach them some skills. Let them earn their living. Back during the great depression, the government had a system that worked. If you wanted a job, we will give you a job. That was how the hoover damn was built and many other projects in this country, people worked hard and got paid.

Stop bitchin about bush, he is in to stay, if you want to make a real change in this country, stop the bickering and find a real candidate who can turn the bad into good, and make this country what it once was, and not continue the same ol goodolboy state it is in now. We need to clean office and not just the top leel office, we need to clean house and senate, get rid of those who make bills padded with incentives for big companies with deep pockets paying for their votes. Get some fresh blood in there, people who have worked hard for a living and know the true meaning of what it takes to get ahead in life, and get rid of those who have had everything handed to them.

Well, here's a nice thought for Easter morning. All those people who died in Hurricane Katrina? It was their fault for being lazy and stupid. Nice.
    p.s. it's "FEMA", not "Feema".

No it wasnt their fault, it was the stupid dumbass mayor who let 200+ school busses sit and become one with the water. It wasnt the federal governments fault either, they DO NOT run state and city governments. Individual states and cities have their own government, and they are wholly responsible for the citizens in their care. And I know its fema, I typo'd, and if that is the best you can debate with, well, so be it. They are lazy because the welfare state put them that way, maybe stupid wasnt the correct word to make my point, I admit, but they do come across as not to bright to not think for themselves. What if there was no FEMA, or National Guard? What then? What if that was you, what would you have done? I know what I would have done, Got off my butt and headed out of town, one way or another there was some way to get out.
