Did Toyota just lower MSRP?

    I'm in the market for a Prius. I was browsing toyota.com all weekend, and then just today when I went to build a Prius again to check something, I noticed that MSRP has been reduced by over $1000 on package #5. Formerly it was $28,950 (or something like that), and today it's $27,875. I've been reading on this board about how people are getting far below MSRP these days, so I guess Toyota is acknowledging that now?

    Anyone else notice this or see confirmation? I'm trying to figure out if I'm doing anything differently, but I think it's lower. edmunds.com also seems to be updated with lower numbers.

    If this is true, don't let dealers with old stickers start the bargaining at the old MSRP!

    I'm still seeing $28,523 with destination which is about the same as 2 weeks ago when I checked. Are you sure you didn't forget to add destination this time? (~$27,900+$620 +/1$200 cargo mats). Also when I checked just last week sometimes the toyota online configurer (buyatoyota.com) was throwing in a ~$250 alarm to most packages so that could have fudged the numbers some more.

    Yes, this is including destination. (And the old one was too.) I'm seeing right now on toyota.com:

    Base MSRP:* $22,175
    Destination & Handling:** $620
    Options & Accessories: $5,080
    Total Combined:*** $27,875

    Also, yesterday or maybe Sunday, edmunds.com matched toyota.com at $28,950. edmunds is now saying for #5:

    $22,175
    $5,280
    $620
    = $28,075

    Interesting, this is only for Souther california Zips

    In northern california I am still seeing;

    Details for Option D - $5,728

    - 50 state emissions (FE)
    - Carpet floor mats & cargo mat (CF)
    - Package #5 -- includes Smart Key System [5], backup camera [11], Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) [4], anti-theft system and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink® [10] universal transceiver, JBL® AM/FM 6-disc in-dash CD changer with nine speakers in seven locations, auxiliary audio jack, MP3/WMA playback capability, satellite radio capability [6] and hands-free phone capability via Bluetooth® [7] wireless technology, High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps and integrated fog lamps, and voice-activated DVD navigation system [8] (NL)
    - XM satellite radio kit (P7)

    FOr southern I am seeing;

    Details for Option C - $5,080

    - 50 state emissions (FE)
    - Package #5 -- includes Smart Key System [5], backup camera [11], Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) [4], anti-theft system and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink® [10] universal transceiver, JBL® AM/FM 6-disc in-dash CD changer with nine speakers in seven locations, auxiliary audio jack, MP3/WMA playback capability, satellite radio capability [6] and hands-free phone capability via Bluetooth® [7] wireless technology, High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps and integrated fog lamps, and voice-activated DVD navigation system [8] (NL)

    So it appears the package 5 is listed cheaper in Socal becasue the floor mats ($200) and XM radio ($449.00) are not listed

    Toyota had in fact lowered the pricing on them so you might see bigger "discounts from MSRP" quoted or advertised when the reality it is just adjusted from the new lower pricing with the old Monroney.
