Fox Rent-a-car rent Prii, and they have locations at Bay Area airports. Often dealerships will rent cars, too, but I don't know of any specific examples in your area.

I just looked at Foxrental. Dang $60 a day for weekend. It's about the same as luxury car. :(

Try calling a nearby dealer. My brother rented one in Santa Rosa for about $40 a day.

Enterprise used to have them in LA area--give them a call. We used them for our tryout in 2005. Liked it so much we drove it to a dealer and bought one.

I rented one from Hertz at SFO for a week before buying mine. I drove it 825 miles up and down from Lake Tahoe twice (lots of driving! :) ) and got over 45 MPG. Bought my Prius the next weekend. Take the test drive/rental, you'll be hooked!

I rented one from Melody Toyota in San Bruno - they have a 2006 fully loaded model (or at least that was the only one they had when I called them).

I tried renting from Hertz, Fox and others but the agents all said that the offices would not be able to guarantee me a Prius (only a car of its particular class). You may have better luck than me.

Melody's rate is about $45 a day I believe. It's more than your average discount-o-rental, but since you're renting a very specific model for a specific reason I'd consider the extra cost worth it.

Oh, if you do go with Melody - make sure they've put the registration in the car. I had the incredible luck to be pulled over for a traffic violation while I was driving the car and guess what? No registration. The cop let me off the hook for that particular sin since I was in a rental.
