Leave 'em be. When they start complaining about gas you can chime in, "Yeah, it's awful. I now spend $25 to fill my tank twice a month. Somebody needs to do something about this."

I've got a friend with a pet peeve against SUV's. Particularly when gas is high he'll say something like, "I hope they like driving their big SUV now." My reply is, "Yeah they probably do. Just like you enjoy driving your Buick and I like my cars. If they don't like driving it then they should trade it in for something that will make them happier." The best rebuttal is to just agree and put the tirade on "ignore". It takes two to argue. Don't be the second one.

Prius owners are not immune to dogmatism, unfortunately.

I was at the gas pumps the other day. An SUV was at a nearby pump. He was filling up his tank when I arrived. He started talking about some mythical Prius drawbacks. My pump clicked off. His was still running. I had put 10.3 gallons in my car. I just pointed to the pump, smiled and said ... "More than 500 miles." He was still filling his tank when I drove off ... without even putting my key in the ignition. Do you think he did the math?

No no, we want someone who can at least shoot the target, not his buddy's face! Either way I thought it was funny!

I'm about to the point where I'm going to close the cube wall opening to my co-workers cube if he doesn't shut up about the Prius VS Hummer BS. All I have to do is wait around at work until everyone leaves for the day...

That is really funny. I have no such experience since I live in Los Angeles. Most inquiries I get are actual inquiries, not Prius bashing.
