Something my Crown Vic has that the Prius doesnt, surprising though considering how computerized it is.

Average speed! We have instant MPG and average MPG over so many miles, but no indication what the average speed was during that time.

Either more leg room, or telescoping steering wheel.

Something I was thinking about earlier today for those who have NAV( I dont).

Using the nav, and a inclinometer, set a nominal cruise control for a daily traveled road. IOW, if your daily drive is hilly and long, then have the computer compute the best method of gaining the most MPG for that ride while maintaining the set speed limit. If it requires coasting, set to glide, if it requires braking during a downhill then set the maximum regen for that grade while maintaining speed. Anticipate hills, so that you build up speed where it is most efficient and bleed off up the grade to burn less fuel.

I would make it so you set way points on the nav computer, then train the route into the nav while driving, so you give it a training session a couple times so it learns anticipation for upcoming hills. Something like that would probably be very helpful for saving fuel.

One other thing I was thinking about was being able to turn off the display, but I found that one the other day when I cleaned up the interior, dealer did a crappy job, there are still pieces of plastic on the parts by the wing windows, and on my lower door panel.

Aside from the avg MPH, I cant think of anything else that wasnt mentioned before. Better seats would be a plus, I am used to a large car with tons of leg room, the Prius lacks the leg room and is a bit uncomfortable after a long ride.

This is such a well thought-out car, the newer ones have the aux audio input, dual glove box, etc. The one thing I would really like to have is a sun roof (that takes away no headroom, yeah right). My Saab had a sun roof, you get air without much noise and I really miss that. Combined with the stealthy power modes in this car, that would be really great. But I can just hear the Senior PriusChat Posters: "You'll decrease your mpg, kid!"

<_< I would like the seats, at least the driver's seat, to have elevation adjustment. Even just a little up and down would help people to feel comfortable with the car quicker.
Other than that.... love da car!

    1. Fully adjustable seats--manual is fine, electric would be great.

    2. A separate automatic calculation of MPG by trip (like the ScanGaugeII has) in addition to the resettable average.

    3. Automatic door locks, EV switch and NAV/telephone control lockout override as standard features rather than aftermarket mods.

    4. 12V Power outlet accessible in rear seat. How about a 120VAC inverter built-in?

    5. Interior LED lighting

I know there are climate control buttons on the steering wheel but they are not fully functional. You can't adjust fan speed. I don't normally use the A/C unless it is more than 80F. So every time I want to bump the fan speed up or down a speed I have to hit climate and then fine the right spot on the touch screen. I can't find the button by feel like on normal controls, so I have to take my eyes off the road and find the right spot on the screen. To me this is a poor application of technology for technology's sake. I is a set backwards in functionality.

With the simple 3 dial climate controls in my VW, I can change to any setting with out looking. I just reach down, feel for the right dial, and turn it to the setting I want.

You may or may not know this but the rear view camera is optional on the Prius. Mine doesn't have this option. Also in my opinion it shouldn't just be operational in reverse, it should be used all the time instead of the normal glass rear view mirror. I find that the rear view mirror is set at a level that it blocks the view of the road to the right specifically when I'm at intersections. But if Toyota already installed the camera and the monitor why bother with the mirror?

This thread is like the dog-park fire-hydrant; everyone salutes it, coming and going endlessly. Me too, and here are my suggestions for Toyota PRIUS:

FIRST: A half inch of additional front end ground clearance - those underside plastic panels get rubbed too often when parking in metered spaces or stalls in the shopping mall.

SECOND: two 12V power outlets for the Rear Seat passengers - please put the outlets either on the back-side of the center console (most economical) or in the rear door arm rests (and kids will unplug at their exit).

THIRD: PRIUS is all about efficient use of energy - so; adopt use of Li Batteries and a Plug-in capacity to both pre-heat the engine block AND full-charge those Li Batteries. Perhaps this is in the long-term (Prius III) planning anyway???

FOURTH: Provide a (Power Grid synchronized) 10 to 15 KVA static inverter to produce pure-sine 220 volt 60 Hz split-phase electricity from the PRIUS batteries WHEN the driver has enabled the ICE operation and the HSD is in 'PARK'. (Solar Cells use synchronized inverters already, and the MG1 and MG2 inverters now perform some of the needed functions, I believe.)

Lets enable Prius owners to sell "Bandit Gas and Electric" some Prius Power at the rates Bandit sells their electricity to us. This would help Bandit Electric meet their peak load demand, reduce our individual energy outlay, and (until we all get a Prius and our employer decides to run a power bus into the employee car park lot)...Bandit will never notice...nor will his elected political accomplices.

The ability to convert money saved from commuting and transportation into electric energy is a 'choice' that James Earl (Yellow Pages) Jones might even envy, and Toyota PRIUS could readily facilitate.

    1. I would like the B mode to automatically shift back to D mode when you press the accelerator.
    2. I would like a display of engine rpm, 60kW motor rpm, and 10kW motor rpm (and power) with a diagram of the CVT, to show net driveshaft rpm (or mph). Bored with the existing displays.

I would like a clock that sets itself from the GPS (assuming you have Nav)

    OK here my wish list:

If someone has already listed these items, I am sorry, missed them in the 12 pages of posting.

    1) A fuel gauge that would read in gallons and tenths and be spot on the money everytime.
    2) Larger battery pack.
    3) More HP from the G/Ms
    4) A plug in charger, not only for better MPG, but when I use the A/C the battery can be drained down to 2
or 3 bars when I get home in summer. In the spring, fall, winter I often arrive home with 8 bars.
    5) Better software for that start and warm up, like if you make a short stop at a store, when you get back
in and start up again, the engine and coolent should still be hot, yet the engine starts and runs anyway.

how about using the gps and a smart computer program to know when you're a 1/2 mile from home, and put you into EV mode? or 1/2 mile from the office. you could program in common commuting points , and it could sense you're close to reaching your destination, shut off the ICE and go into EV mode, battery charge state allowing.

that and a towing hitch option from the factory, pre-wired. a lot of us want to hook up bike carriers. thats isnt much weight.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but why are people are asking for features like "Leather Seats", "Bluetooth Voice Activated Dialing", "Backup Camera" and "MP3/WMA CD Player".

The 2007 model has all of those as options.

I'd concur with a lot of people, and I certainly lean toward the techie side of things.

    1. iPod Dock
    2. Synchronization with Pocket PC address book (I can't import any of my smartphone's contacts).
    3. Improved voice commands and GPS (announce street names, traffic updates, improved address search, etc.).
    4. Phone book for GPS POIs, and the ability to automatically dial your selected POI via Bluetooth (say if you just chose a restaurant and want to call and make a reservation or check hours of operation).
    5. AC adapter.

Actually, I hope Toyota eventually partners with Microsoft for "Sync" like Ford is:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiUiJaIlLRg
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCpec1sa_UM

That technology looks cool! The car reads you your text messages as they arrive on your cell phone, and Microsoft's voice command technology is unrivalled. No one can touch them for ease of use and rapid voice dialing. For instance, you can say "Call Betty, Cell" the instant you've enterred Betty in your contact list vs. having to program voice tags or dial by number with the Toyota factory voice dialing.

I'm a nut when it comes to gadgetry.

So, I wish my Prius had the park assist like the ones in Japan and Europe.

I would like an "undo" button on the MFD so when I reach up to swipe some dust and reset the milage, I can go back to where it was.
