There are 234 cars being allocated late tonight in Southern CA. I have no idea what color or package they are, but I usually get pretty close to 3% of the allocation (not bad for being out of 57 dealers!) so that may mean I get as many as 6 cars, maybe 7 this time around?

The production and arrival ratios for cars in SoCal, color etc are:
10% of all cars are AF (package 3 ), 60% of all cars are BC (package 9 ), 20% are BG (package 8 ) and the other 10% are BI (package 6 ) cars. Of course, that being said, there are just that proportion of BC cars wanted, or even more.

    Color ratios are:
10% of all are white with gray interior.
10% of all are white with tan interior.
    29.9% are silver.
    5.1% are black with tan
    5.1% are black with gray
    5.4% are red.
    9.7% are driftwood.
    10% are tideland.
    14.8% are blue

You can see that being open to any color in a specific package may help you get "the call"... we are all the authors of our own fate! Someone in my line who wants a black/gray package 6 and will not take anything else is certainly painting themselves into a corner of their own making. :>

Well, looks like things are picking up allocation-wise in SoCal:

    Beginning of Feb: 136
    First 1/2 of Jan: 121
    End of Feb - 234

That's some sort of upward movement at least!

Any movent right now in an upwards fashion is a blessing. :D

Thank You SoCal Region for helping us get more cars!!!!!!!!! More More More!!!

Thanks for the information. It's comforting to have even if it doesn't make the cars (and your sales) come any faster!

Yes, like almost double, right? Hopefully, this is just the tip of the iceberg and, going forward, allocations will continue to increase.

    Interesting, so the summary is:

    29.9% Silver
    20% White
    14.8% Blue
    10.2% Black
    10% Tideland
    9.7% Driftwood
    5.4% Red

Stripping Rounding we probably are really looking at:

    30% Silver
    20% White
    15% Blue
    10% Black
    10% Tideland
    10% Driftwood
    5% Red

I've always been curious about how manufacturers decide what color proportions to produce.

Dianne, do you know if that breakdown is the same US-Wide? Or do the Color Ratios vary by Region?

Clearly, someone who wants a Red Prius might want to know if somewhere else gets a higher percentage, hehe.

I'm not sure about the colors near the bottom of the list but Silver and White always seem to be at the top of the list, in terms of color choice, based on several articles and reports I've read.

Every region decides what's best for their buyers -- color, packages, etc -- it's like that on every single car Toyota makes.
