After patiently waiting since late July for our $300 rebate, I finally decided to call 1-800-GOTOYOTa and check in with them.

    Glad I did!

First, that's not the right number. But the helpful person on the far end will get you connected. I explained that I've had the car for a couple months now and was wondering if I needed to do anything other than wait.

The customer service agent asked for all my details, including the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). After a momnet, he gave me a claim number and said that I could expect my check in EIGHT MORE WEEKS!

Now, I'm a special case because I've got ANOTHER Prius on order and I received a "coupon" redeemable for $300 off a 2004 or $700 off a 2005 for that purchase. Of course, the next one will be a 2005 as that is what is being delivered now.

I honestly don't know what would have happened if I had not called. The bottom line is if you've been patient like me, it MIGHT be worthwhile to take a few minutes to remind them that you are still out there.

No need to respond to this post. I'm not really upset or anything, it's just informational. Like I said, I might be some odd case that got lost in the shuffle.

Thank you so much for this information! I tried unsuccessfully to get this done through my dealer, and after a couple of months, I was getting frustrated. Who knew one call would get it done.

The rep at the number you gave was quite cheerful and she did connect me, but the direct number for the Toyota Customer Experience person who actually has the information is 1-800-331-4331, extension 3.

I have been waiting for my prius since Feb 1, so now I will get a 2005.

But I never received any letters from Toyota. I suspect that my deal hasn't reporting my info to them.

Do you think I can still get the $700 rebate?

By the way, my dealer is threatening not to sell me the car at all (even though I put down the deposit and have been patiently waiting) because they are afraid I will give them a poor score on Toyota's post-sale Customer Satisfaction Survey.

I just found out that they never properly entered my order into Toyota's database way back when I ordered on Feb 1. I wonder if there's any way I can get the rebate now...

I'd say of course you can... IF you kept all your documentation, including the dated receipt of your deposit.

If you have all the docs, make sure you call Toyota. Don't rely on an Internet forum for accurate information on ANYTHING!

Even if the dealer did screw up, THEY certainly can make it right by you and give you a $300 credit toward something/service or even drop the price $300.

The people that qualify for the rebate are those that ordered a 2004 Prius prior to the $300 price increase last spring. Yes, there are people (like me) that are still waiting 8, 9 months or more.

I ordered two! One here in Michigan, that has yet to be delivered and will be a 2005 model (obviously); and the one I am driving now that I bought in California and drove back.

It's not *really* a "rebate," we are simply getting back the price increase that we paid when the car came in. My 2005 will get a $700 rebate because the 2005 has gone up $700 since my original order.

A note here for British Columbia Prius owners/buyers.... just in case your dealer does not /didn't mention it you get a provincial cash rebate of 30% of the total of PST/SST(Social Service Tax) on the Total Vehicle (-any trade-in allowance)plus any net order additions. They should provide you with a copy of the necessary claim form. :D

I was not aware of a rebate until I read about it here. I called the Toyota Customer Experience information line at 1-800-331-4331 and was told that the Prius order had to be submitted prior to 03/09/04 in order to qualify.

Well, that knocks me out of the race! I ordered mine on 04/09/04. But at least I have my Prius now.

Actually, the Prius I have is not the one I ordered. I originally ordered Silver #7. Apparently someone ordered the Silver #9 but did not take delivery. I was given a shot at this one, although I was reluctant to pay the higher price. But I took the plunge, and I am glad I did.

The Navigation system is not 100% accurate, but did get me where I needed to be several times when I was in unfamiliar territory. The JBL Sound System is very nice. But I am unable to take advantage of the Bluetooth technology with the phone I currently have.

Can anyone suggest a phone that works well with Bluetooth?

Then I hope you tell them that if they carry out that threat you will put in an official complaint to Toyota HQ. :guns:
