First time poster, so I hope this is okay. I received a quote for $25000 OTD on an '07 Prius (package 4) in VA. I'm wondering if this is a good deal? The salesperson told me that Edmunds is not a good place, because their numbers don't reflect the actual market. Based on the "invoice" they gave me and the price on the car, it looks like they marked it up the $800 to make up for the ECO-nomic savings incentive, so I'm not sure I trust them anyway.

I'm not in desperate need of a vehicle right now, so I have a little wiggle room on my part and want to make sure I get a good deal. ;)

    Thanks!

I'd say that you can do better... since I paid 21,812 OTD for a package 2... and a package four shouldn't be nearly 3k more...

Where are you in VA? Maybe I can steer you toward the folks who sold me mine.

Is it okay on here to say where you went? I'm within decent driving distance of NoVa, so I don't mind heading up there for a good deal.

Or down to Richmond, either. I'm in the Northern Neck (east of Fredericksburg) but I have no problems with a road trip.

Sure. At least I say it is. :)

I bought mine at McGeorge Toyota in Richmond. The salesman's name was Tom Baskin. Don't know what he can do for you now, but it's probably worth a call.

Their service department has treated me well in repairing a couple of minor things under warranty.

Since you're not too far away, I will extend to you a personal invitation to our first-ever Central VA Prius meet-up next Saturday. You don't have to be a Prius owner to attend, and it will be a good opportunity to talk to Prius owners to help you size up your potential purchase. And who knows, maybe you can snag a great deal while you're there. See this thread for details.

Ooh, thanks! I tried calling McGeorge earlier today, but I was about 20 minutes too late. I keep getting a not-quite-right feeling about the dealership we're working with (in Fredericksburg), so I think I'm going to pass. (We tried buying our last car from them, and got the same feeling.) I'll give McGeorge a call on Monday.

I'd love to attend the meet-up, but we're going to be in Farmville for a festival most of the day. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the next one. :)

In that case, you could call Haley Toyota. That's where we'll be having our meet-up. They have a branch in Farmville. They may be able to help you out.

Hopefully McGeorge was nice to you today. :D

I talked to Haley Farmville on Saturday, but they couldn't give me a better price (over the phone anyway ;)) We have yet to make it to McGeorge -- that might be on Friday afternoon.

I really appreciate all of the help!

I picked up my new package #5 for $25k over 2 months ago. Since then prices have come down. My dealer's in NoVA and I worked the deal over email and phone before I picked it up. I can forward more info if you're interested in making the drive here to pick up.

07 Touring package 5 $25,300. Six more on his lot right now. If you look hard enough you can probably find a touring model cheaper - prices seem to be coming down weekly.

Okay, I feel so much better having declined that "deal" after reading all of these posts. Jackovalltrades, I would have no problem driving up to pick it up. Working over email/phone sounds wonderful too. I spent all of last year driving back and forth to Gainesville at least once a month, so a one-time trip to pick up a car would be no problem!

    Update:
When it came down to how much it was worth to me, and the fact I started getting the same offer from everyone after the gas prices shot back up again, I wound up OTD for only slightly less than this same offer. But I felt that the dealership/salesperson (Alexandria Toyota, Oliver) treated me with a great deal of respect. I think we'll be going back whenever greendaddy's car dies.
