Welcome to the new Prius! Mine also has a sh*tload of rattles - dash, partially open windows, etc. You'd think after a half-century in the biz, Toyota would have figured out how to avoid this.

I have a 2004 with the same dashboard rattle described above. Comes and goes somewhat with the general air temperature - probably affected by expansion and contraction. Mine is somewhere around the speedo cowl and goes away with pressure. It was temporarily fixed when the dealer removed dash to fix the fuel gauge for some TSB. But now it's back. Someone above said the dash is easy to remove. Can you refer us to any instructions? I'd like to just load the damn thing up with all manner of felt, foam, rubber bushing, etc.
    (Thanks in advance.)

Thanks, John. I'll check it out. Another rattle I discovered today, believe it or not, is the plastic ring that remains loose around the neck of a water bottle after you open the cap. The bottle was sitting in the cup holder and only this little ring was making noise.

    Any thoughts on this one?

Around where the passenger dash airbag is I get a thunk type sound when I turn left or right, preceded by a short sliding sound of a couple inches. Sounds like something is sliding back and forth and hitting something else. Not a tap so much as a clack (gad zooks I sound loony). I thought for months it was the stuff in the glove box, so I took everything out. Nope......I was wrong.

I also get a sliding sound the entire length of the upper dash at times. Sound like a bb rolling back and forth pillar to pillar. Again...only on some big turns.

The first one bothers me the most though.

Btw. Are there instructions anywhere on how to take the dash apart? I've had the smaller pieces off, but not the main black hunker.

    TIA. :)

Dealer told me today that all rattles are covered under the Bumper to Bumper warranty. He also said he had heard of technicians finding loose nuts and bolts up in the dash with notes tied to them reading something like "Darn, you found the rattle."

The sliding clunking sounds like one of my noises. It rarely happens - usually with a quick turn, stop, or accel. Mine sounds like it is coming from under the driver's seat.

There seems to be a big duct under the base of the windshield - probably for the air vents. Mine seems to fill water during rains, and I get a major sloshing sound until I've made a couple of turns, which apparently directs the water to the drains. Sounds like you've gotten some more solid object in the vent

Ditto... I've got one, sounds like it's the spedo. I've heard that someone found the mirror that reflects the spedo LCD got loose and he added a shim.

I'm not that torn up about it anymore, drove me nuts for the first month though.
