Believe me, it would be nice to get all the protocol documents.
They cost serious bucks, like many other industrial standards
documents. See http://www.etools.org/ and http://www.nastf.org/ for
a glimpse into what they're up against.

Developing embedded software for instrumentation for the past 25 plus years I had to get involved with much worse bureaucracy dealing with hardware & software for defense and aerospace contractors.

We should be able (I hope) to find a source (official or unofficial) for the Toyota OBD-II/CAN documentation. Let’s not give up on the subject.

I'm also getting frustrated trying to find info on what OBD & CAN messages the Prius supports (and which PIDs they are in).

I know the "standard" (pay $ to SAE/ISO) list has the basics, but that doesn't help us figure out how to access the private commands that Toyota supports.

The amazing Atilla Vass has the definitive list so far (I am baffled how he figured out the solicited CAN info):
    http://www.vassfamily.net/ToyotaPrius/CAN/PriusCodes.xls

And Norm (CAN-View) has his list here:
    http://hybridinterfaces.ca/disppars.html

And this guy in Ukraine has a LOT of toyota PIDs and DTCs listed (lifted from Toyota service manuals?):
    http://alflash.com.ua/toyota.htm
    click on these links:
    DTC (OBDII System) Toyota/Lexus
    Toyota PIDs by "diagnostic computer"

I haven't seen any indication yet that the oil pressure or temperature is available from any OBD/CAN request... I also can't find the current mileage or odometer reading which I would really like (02 21 21 doesn't work for me)...

    Anybody know more?
