Here I go again, asking something that might be somewhere in the manual. If that upsets you, please ignore this question

The Tow Eye on the side of the front bumper: What is it for? Husband asked me, and I don't know. I know what it's called, from this forum, but how it would be used in towing, I don't know. Thanks to those of you kind enough to answer.

In the trunk with the spare tire stuff is the tow ring itself.

Pop off the tow ring bumper hole cover, thread tow ring in place, tow car.

P.S. You may want to crack open the Owners Manual for more specifics so you don't damage your car.

To expand a bit...it is for serious emergencies only...dragging the car out of a deep ditch when a proper tow truck can't be found/used, etc. it is NOT for routine towing as in a breakdown or flat tire or whatever.

It also works great for the extreme emergency of carrying a kayak on the roof. Tie off the bow to the tow eye for a very clean setup (you don't need to drag the line over your bumper and hook to the loops under the car).

Has anyone not been able to pop off their tow ring cover? Suggestions?

A small knife or screwdriver will work. A small suction cup will work also.

I admit that it is a booger! Actually, it is easy to pop off. It is hard not to ding up the surrounding plastic! Next time I have it off, I'm going to put a little handle on the dang thing!

Use the edge/corner of a thin credit card to pry it out. Plastic is less likely to damage your bumper. I used my library card.

I was able to get the cover off by going through the car wash. They never did call me to say they found it. :p
