    1) My husband took the Prius to an auto body shop this morning and they installed the side body moldings for $26. My husband offered to do it, but I would rather be upset with the shop than with him if I didn't like it, and the price was right. They billed a half hour. I made the arrangements with the shop and took the dog to obedience class while he took the Prius in for me. The shop did a nice job and they look great.

    2) Back at home the afore mentioned wonderful spouse pulled the car onto ramps, blocked the back wheels and put on the BT plate, a 15 minute job. I'll let you know. ;)

    3) Spouse (now gaining hero status) put in the EBH while the Prius was on the ramp and while I got my hair cut, so I missed being there. I was told I didn't miss anything. It took him about 50 minutes and he had to take the plug off in order to line up with the hole. And then plug it back in, remembering the orientation. A trip to Home Depot found a 15 foot extension cord and a heavy duty outdoor timer made for pool pumps and...engine block heaters.

It's nice to get things done.

Would love to see pics of the body side mouldings. Sounds like a good Prius day to me!

Here's a picture of the molding and a couple of the EBH plug. I didn't wax the car doors again, it was 60 degrees today, but it's suppose to be in the upper 70's tomorrow, so I'll wait until then. B)

Ah, you ran the cord over *that* way. Did you/he do the install
from the top or the bottom? [I.e. speak to us about "preferred
positions with your Prius", or something...

Don't worry about a bad rep...my guy has a sailboat that he spends lots of time on, so he's getting bonus points to bank. :D

The EBH is making a difference in the morning, it's been 38-52 in the mornings this week. I got it at Metro in Cleveland for $56 and shipping, I think the price has gone up on that site. Sorry I don't have a link for the site, but someone on here will. :)

With the body side molding, I'm not as paranoid about someone opening their door and hitting my car, but I'm still parking away from everyone when I can.

Thanks for the link. I ordered the EBH, Body Side Molding, and the Rear Bumper Applique today! Do you think the side molding will reduce miles per gallon?

I have never liked side molding on vehicles and can't say I like them on the Prius either. I am curious though about the EBH. I wonder if they are cost effective and counter productive to the Prius theme of being green. I does afterall use power from your house. And how easy was the install? Where I live cold mornings are not that often so I'm not sure if the EBH is for me.

GEEZ, I saw the yellow cord and all the talk of an EBH, I thought it was some fancy toy that I didn't have yet. .......I live in California, I'm pleased to realize that not only do I not have it, I don't need it, LOL

Sounds like hubby was already to obediance school before the dog. I think you should give him a treat to reinforce the good behavior.

After 33 years of marriage, we're both well trained in our own ways. :p

Your welcome, glad I could help. I don't know if the side molding reduces mileage, since the mods were done at the same time, the weather is warmer and the car is still breaking in. I do know my last tank was 54mpg. :)

I like the looks, but more importantly, my last car had the same style door as the Prius and seemed to invite dents from other car doors opening on it, no matter how carefully I parked. As for the EBH, do a search, there is a ton of info on them from the "experts". :)

    Must be nice.... B)

Hi from Australia....regarding the side mouldings, I prefer to fit them on the outermost part of the door, where it is most likely to protect from other idiots. This is a little higher than detailed on the fitting instructions which come in the kit. They work well there....see photo. Oh, and there is no way they could affect fuel mileage.

Thankfully, we don't need the EBH either, just the opposite! A little rain would be nice though. We are in our worst drought in living memory.

    Cheers.
