Cd Display

I have the standard single-play CD with the 6-disc added to the pocket below. Most newer store-bought CDs will display artist/song title in the single-play CD, but NOT in the changer. I've never seen the changer display artist/song title info. Now, the CDs I burn play fine in both the single-play and changer, but artist info/song titles only display (in the single-play CD) if I've burned 'disc-at-once' with the CD-text box checked. This is using EZ CD 5.0 platinum, but I think Nero has this ability. If only there were an MP3 option, now that would kick #ss! Drive fun, drive clean, drive Prius!

 

If you press the "TITLE" button on the CD display for the 6 disc, it will say the name of the album and song for most discs, but not all. Lots don't seem to have it, but newer ones generally do.

 

i guess it depends on the burning program used. i use the old easy cd creator, as well as Nero and they work well, never had a problem with cd text. although some old cd burners dont support burning cdtext...

 

Another question.... I have option package 7 (standard stereo) but had the dealer add the 6-disk changer. Both commercial and home-made CD's will display the title/track info when played in the single CD player but neither will display the title/track when played in the changer.

Since it is the "standard" stereo for all intensive purposes, there is no "Disk Info" button to press when in the CD changer mode. My question is... Is there a way, either via hardware or software (upgrade?), to get title/track info from CD's in the changer displayed on the touch screen?

I am assuming the head units for the standard and premium stereos are essentially the same and it is just a question of software to get the changer to talk to the head unit so the touch screen can display the cd text info... If anyone can help I would appreciate it greatly!

2004 Driftwood Pearl w/Package #7 (+ the CD changer...)

 

I have the 04 BC package (in-dash 6-disk CD) and none of my CD's showed text. I noticed by accident taht my copied CDs did display text, so I have since ripped and reburned the majority of my car CDs with Nero and they all now show text. This was a bit of a hassle, but now I have my "ripped" music with me on my laptop when I travel and I figured the copied CDs are better to leave in the hot car than my originals.

I'm trying to revive this old thread since I'm not sure the replies answer my current question. I have burned some CDs with CD text and can get the 6-disk changer to show title information if you are on the audio screen. However the momentary display that appears across the top of other screens at the start of a track seems to display only disk & track number. Some FM stations manage to use this brief display to show song title and artist so I'm wondering if anyone has managed to get it to work for CDs. Does the standard changer use this method to display title info as Finman implies?

I have an 06 PKG 3 type 2 radio with the 6 changer. My MFD does not display the CD Disc# or track # of the CD Changer. the RPT, RAND, SCAN work. Is this the case with yours.
