I'm currently on Verizon, and the service has been pretty good - i only get dropped/missed calls when at work and i have no reception (understandable).

However, their customer service sucks. A lot. We've been having the same fight with them for almost 2 years with no change (essentially, they put the account under the wrong name, and it's a serious PITA to change anything) - when the contract is up in December, i'm definitely switching

I don't use a cell phone in the car because it distracts me from watching the MFD.

we have alltel and really like the phone service, and the customer service. only thing is they've got sketchy coverage in wv and ky, where we drive through a few times a year. before that, DH had some absolutely horrible experiences with sprint. it took a long damn time to remove their mistake from his credit report, and with pretty much no help from sprint either.

I have an e815 with Verizon. It works well with the Prius and I've gotten dropped calls maybe once or twice in 3.5 years of service.

I use Cingular. And don't believe their billboards. They aren't the company with the fewest dropped calls!

I use a Motorola Sliver, with Cingular. I too don't believe their billboards, but it is getting better in the hills where I live since the AT&T deal

My cell phone would distract me from the MFD, which distracts me from the ipod, which distracts me from the blackberry, which distracts me from the GPS Garmin, which distracts me from my coffee, which would be tragic. So I don't.

I used to have AT&T Wireless, but they got bought by Cingular. So then I had Cingular. But now Cingular is telling me they're The New AT&T. So I don't know who I have anymore.

I do know that no other company can match the plan I'm on. It's the "I signed up as an AT&T employee and am still getting that benefit" plan.

And calls do get dropped. But I don't use the phone all that often, so it's not that big a deal to me.

Make sure not to hit me when your watching your MFD instead of the Road! :)

Nice to have another Lancaster County person on here!

In answer to the OP I have been using Sprint for a few years now and have had little problems. Their service runs on the same technology as Verizon's (even borrowing their towers when a Sprint signal is not to be had) and tends to be far less expensive (especially on the data side)

I have used Verizon, Cingular, Sprint. None of them are very good. I wish cell phones would be like they are in movies and TV; never any missed calls, or dropped calls...

I have Verizon and I've never had a dropped call except in a resort outside of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, because the resort was too far from the nearest (Mexican -- not Verizon) tower. And I've always had excellent customer service from them. Except for the time in Mexico when I could not reach them because I could not hit the tower. :)

I have cingular and get dropped calls like it’s the cool thing to do. They do have good customer service though.

My friends and family have a saying “cingular home of the most drope…..â€

I use a Palm 700W on Verizon, which works great with my Prius. Very few dropped calls; they are almost always from a fellow agent who uses Sprint (so I'm thinking it's her service, not mine). I had AT&T years ago when I was an AT&T employee. The coverage was horrible, it did not work in my house, nor where I worked (even outside the building) - I found that fairly ironic. I did a similar poll in my motorcycle forum several years ago - Verizon won hands-down with reliability, so i switched, and I've been pleased with them. Their customer service can be annoying (but really, whose isn't these days?), and some of their service techs have seemed dumber than a bag of hammers, but thankfully I haven't needed to use them often.

I have had Verizon for a long time here. few dropped calls. I think it depends on your area,
once in a while the bluetooth drops in the spaceship- not sure why.

strange days though- the past 2 days my phone would not make any calls except to verizon customer service...

    "your number is invalid" OR
    "your phone cannot be authenticated"

had to go to the store to resolve the problem. they wiped out the serial numkber and refreshed it... problem solved!

the tech rep was very nice and was great at multitasking. Verizon has a new 30 day trial ... check it out!

Alltel. About two dropped calls in four years.
LG camera phone that takes lousy pictures but works great with the Prius.
The circle of friends thing is great! (I was a Sprint customer before this, but they started charging me roaming charges when I got calls at MY house.)
