Thanks for the link and the suggestions. The unit works flawlessly so far in the car with the antenna on the dash, although I think down the line I will bite the bullet and put it under a shark fin. Of course I have to figure out how to route the antenna wire from the center console to the side of the car (hopefully fishing it under the carpet is not too difficult)

One note for those interested on the portability of the Inno: this unit is useless as a portable receiver (what were they thinking?) I live in flat country with a clear view of the southern sky and only get consistant reception standing still ...otherwise forget it, listen to your recorded content. Perhaps the Belkin Antenna headphones improve this, but out of the box its certainly not portable for XM listening. (I'm sure part of this is because there are no repeaters in my area, but its a satelite radio folks it shouldn't need them to function well)

Docked though its a great little unit, whether in the car or for home use you can't beat the features..

I have the Belkin headphones with the antenna built into the headstrap. It works very well outside, you can put your Inno in your pocket or wherever, the built in antenna in the headphones takes over. But not so good inside the house, however I'm going to try the boombox, some have told me they can play while roaming inside. We shall see. How do you like the record feature? Isn't it great??!!! If you are 10 mins into a song, it still records from the beginning! Simply amazing!

I ended up just leaving mine on the dash. I had it on the roof for a while until I switched satellite units and put it on the dash, didn't notice much of a difference. Discovered that the center speaker grille is metal and works great for the magnetic antenna, so I just put it there...finally ended up routing the wires through the speaker grille, you can't even tell and nothing is on the roof.

    Pictures here...

    Nice pics Ken!

Hey Darken, want to check out a sweet boombox for your Inno? One that has absolute fantastic sound?....

    Check this out: http://store.xmfanstore.com/xtboombox.html

I purchased it and think it is great! Awesome sound quality. Even ask Bobc who came to visit, I showed him the unit.

@ Wayne (Firengineer) : Instead of doing your suggestion, what i did was attach a piece of clear packing tape to the underside of the antenna. We shall see how that works.

Your suggestions have been right on to this point, so I'll have to check out the boombox for sure! Picked up the bracketron unit over the weekend and really like how it looks and makes everything right in fingers reach. Now to route all the wires  for a professional look.

Heard about the belkin headphones so they will be on the shopping list as well....then again with all the songs I've recorded I may never have time to 'live' music. :)

Again to anyone reading..look into the Inno if your thinking of XM for the car, integrated is nice but this unit is tops for its recording features and portability.

Thanks for all the posts PriusFTW you've been a great help...
