Hey everyone, remember what is happening this Sunday. With the little extra publicity we should have a great crowd.

Rick you don't have to bring anything this time, Grossingers said they would provide some food/drinks.

Well, I am in Chicago for tonight (Fri) and the weekend. I am coming with four friends to see places in Chicago. Our schedule is packed. :( I think we are going to visit the Brookside zoo on Sun afternoon.

Also, I won't drive around. I think we are gonna park the car and then walk a lot. I am not a fan of big city driving.

Sorry! But will keep this in mind. Who knows, I might show up!

Brookfield Zoo opens at 10:00AM, and you have to drive there (not really, but the alternative is time consuming). Since your driving, leave the zoo, go south on First Ave., to I-55 north into the city, take I-90/94 go north toward downtown, stay north and in the right two lanes until you get to Montrose Ave. where the highway splits and follow I-94 north (on right), go a few miles and exit at Touhy Ave. east, at the light take a left and go straight 1 1/2 blocks and your there. See how easy. Or go to Lincoln Park Zoo and Conservatory, just a short bus ride from downtown.

Have a good time for your weekend and do take in as many sights as you can and then come back another time for some more, Chicago can't be done in a weekend.

Thanks. I was in Chicago about 3 yrs ago and saw some places. Now it's the time for more. :) Thanks for the info. I don't think my friends want to go to a Prius meeting (although they love the car). :) I might drop by to say hi. Look for the brown girl in a black Prius (oh, and four brown guys).

    Wayne,
My guess is there may be some discussion of Hybridfest at the meeting. If you have questions that you are not able to answer, be sure to send them my way and I'll research them for you.

Also, if anyone wants to print up their own Hybridfest fliers to share with others I am attaching a copy of the latest 1/4 page handout and full page handout. Thank you for helping to spread the word!

Does that mean you don't want me to bring the cookies I baked? :) The potluck suggestion came from the first post of the thread.

Yes. Yummy cookies (thanks, Drifter) but they were just "icing on the cake."

The meet up was great! The turn out was exceptional. Kevin & the rest of the Grossingers staff outdid themselves with the setting up, slaving over a hot grill to serve up tasty food, pointing out what's under the front hood & back hatch & showing us the underside of a Prius on a lift. It was a truly class act.

Plus there was Wayne, dressed to the nines in an elegant tux, taking apart a Prius battery & explaining how it worked - including the critical fact that if you drive your Prius into a lake, you won't be electrocuted! Reassuring to know - now we all can sleep better at night. In his freer time, he was answering any & all questions, showing how to put pipe insulation in the grill of a Prius to help milage in weather under 50 degrees (i.e. all but two or three months of the year in Chicagoland), etc.. <_<

But the true master of ceremonies was Tony who gave a compelling evangelical (that's his term, not mine) speech about the hybrid's role in energy conservation. He has a teacher's gift for keeping an audience attentive with information which directly impacts their lives. Prepared handouts, displays, the whole nine yards - he came prepared. It's fair to say that without Tony's drive to spread the word, I would have been swimming this afternoon rather than hobnobbing with the hybrid fans & fans-to-be.

Those who weren't able to attend this meeting missed something truly special but, fear not, more hybrid group meetings are in store.

    I, for one, can't wait.

    Indeed....

The cookies, meeting, program, people, subject, talk, sharing, teaching, learning were all great.

Three cheers to Tony and Wayne. Hip Hip Hooray!!

(I was Mr. Gimpy at the meeting) hehe See ya all soon. To those who didn't make it today please consider joining us next time. I think it will be time well spent.

    Cheerio

I'm sorry I missed most of that. Stupid Mapquest, well stupid me I guess - I ended up following 72 instead of staying straight on Touhy and got lost for an hour so I missed most of the good stuff. It was very cool to put some faces to Priuschat boardies though once we finally arrived. Seemed like a great turnout and a well-organized event. Saw Fox News doing an interview with Tony when we pulled up - did they air anything about the event? Anyways, Thanks for the warm invite and the welcome reception when we arrived, special thanks to Wayne's son for drawing my number to win one of the washes too :D (even though it started raining about 10 minutes after)

There was a small segment on the nine o'clock news last night. I wouldn't be suprised if they replay it at noon today, but I won't be able to watch and see.
