Update: Well, I haven't had the chance to install it yet. Weather hasn't cooperated.

The badges have arrived, though, and they look very cool.

Finally! The weather cooperated, I had some time to wash the car properly and identify a good mounting location, had warm enough temps to mount the badge, AND I got around to taking a picture.

So, after all this -- what do you think?

Looks NICE! I would have put the touring badge on the left to balance out the badges but it still looks good on the right.

Ditto, I would replace the Toyota emblem with Touring.

Anyway, the emblem looks great! (y)

Thanks for the pictures - looks good, so I decided to try it also - just ordered the badge and 4 wheel caps from TRDParts4u in Texas - good prices $15.38/badge and $9.36/cap - plus $10/shipping. Now I can give my Magnetic Grey a spring restyle. May try the LL location if the "toyota" comes off easily.

Looks nice. If I wasn't debadging I'd get one.

Looks great. Does it just stick on? I like where you put it on the right. If you put it on the left, it would look too busy with the other smaller font below (assuming no debadging).

Here's the results of the spring $60 facelift - removed the TOYOTA on the left (dental floss - waxed, mint) and replaced it w/ the Avalon "Touring" Emblem. Size is quite close, the "T's" are the same height and the touring is one letter longer. Also got the touring wheel caps and removed the covers. I think the touring wheels look better in real life than the photo's show YOMV.
Thanks IowaMINI for starting this quest. Regards Wayne [attachmentid=7703]

Does the Touring badge just stick on? Any tips on application?

[*CAUTION* Good natured ribbing to follow . . . or maybe just a sign of my age  ]

I too want a 'cool' car!!!!
I want to show my individuality.

Maybe I should just get a tattoo instead.
That would definitely show my individuality.

No, I want a cooler car . . . but I've never really been into the looks of any car I've ever owned.
Sure, I wash and wax my cars, but that is for protecting the paint ~ isn't it?

Maybe I'll get a Harley instead.
Those are cool and sound so - um, oh wait! . . . I hate that sound!
Maybe I could modify it to be the world's quietest Harley.
That would definitely show my individuality. :)

Wait, what am I saying?????? Motorcycles are dangerous.
Naaahhh, I'll keep my "Safety Model" Prius.

I know! Maybe it would be cool if I modify the sound of the Prii's exhaust.

Maybe I could get one of these:

    TURBO SOUND!!!!

    Is that cool?
Would that make me look cool? (Or maybe half cool, due to stealth mode ;) )

I do not know. Currently I feel so inadequate.

Does waxed dental floss actually work for taking off car badges?
    I have dental floss!
Who knew 'cool' individuality could be so easy and inexpensive!

    THANK YOU PRIUSCHAT!!!!! ;)

Thanks for the photos Iowamini and MR07 I think that both look great. I think I am going to order the badge since my 07 is also the Touring Edition. BTW MR07 I've been wanting to take those cheap wheel covers off the wheel but couldn't find the center caps. Now that I see you can get them from TRD I will ordering them for my as well, they look good!

OK, I don't have the Touring model, but I've been seeing what the people have done with the added emblem, and it looks good.

But one thing I was wondering about was the placement of the "TOURING" emblem. On IowaMINI's it just doesn't seem right to me (personal opinion though). Maybe if the "TOYOTA" emblem was moved up to the same height it would look better? On Mr07Touring's it looks more like a factory placement. But I was wondering what if it would be good to have "TOURING" under the "TOYOTA" emblem, or maybe take off the HSD badge, move it under the "TOYOTA" emblem, and put the "TOURING" under the "PRIUS" emblem. Then it would be Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive on one side, and Prius Touring on the other side.

Of course, I'm not able to join in on all the fun, I've just got a regular Prius.

It is simply double-sided tape on the back of the badge.

Once I figured out the general area I wanted to install it, I used bug and tar remover to clean the area of any wax or dirt. Once dry, I started playing with different exact locations by using clear tape to hold the badge in place.

Then when I decided on the exact location, I used some low-stick tape (you could use a post-it note) to help me mark the spot. I removed the cover from the doublesided tape and carefully placed the badge on the spot.

When I was exactly sure that's where I wanted it, I pressed the badge into place.

I did this with the temp above 60F. I wanted to be sure the adhesive would stick. I then set the car in the sun for a couple hours to ensure the tape would stick (since it was still a little cool outside).

    Pretty simple.

    Hope this helps.

You know, I kinda thought the rear looked a little out of balance badge-wise. I think some of my peers were hinting at that as well.

I did have an idea which I just executed today which I think makes a huge difference. See what you think.

I know some people really like the HSD badge, I'm not that enamored by it. Without the HSD badge, I think the rear is a little more in balance.

Any chance someone knows the parts numbers for the Avalon emblem and the center caps? I went to the TRDParts4u website, but I can't find the emblem listed. I believed I had thought up the touring emblem mod on my own, but I see you guys are way ahead of me!

How about this one (if the link works):

I love both of them. I was thinking of doing the same thing to my seaside pearl in addition to adding a shark fin. The current Qing dynasty hairstyle whip antenna doesn't quite do it for me. I'm still undecided on removing the wheel covers. Honestly, I thought the rims underneath would look better. :(

I really don't understand the point of having alloy wheels and then puttting plastic covers on them. The wheels should be beautiful on their own. I have never seen this done on any other car. Possible similar weirdness is 1991-93 BMW M5 with forged alloy wheels and cast aluminum covers bolted to the wheels.
Here are the 16-in Alpina wheels on my 2002tii touring. No plastic covers allowed!!!!

I did the wheel caps and removed the wheel covers for a while on my MagGrey, it had kinda a dark stealth look. Then after comparing pic's of both ways I went back to the wheel covers on. I think it would look better on silver or white or the light green rather than the monochromatic look w/ Grey. Try it tho (use a circle of duct tape or black aerosol can caps to temp cover the hole) - easy to do and 5 min. to go back to having them on. I may take them off in winter again when we have lots of white around.

The part number for the Avalon Touring badge...from the package itself:

    DESCRIPTION: TOURING FOR AVALON
    PART NO.: 75443-AC120

And the AC120 ends in Zero, not the letter Oh.

Here's the funny thing...the second badge I have came in a package with the same Part No., but a different description: TOURING N/P AVALON

The link on the first page in Post #3 by The Force still works.

    Good luck!

I'm still torn about removing the covers. I recently saw another Touring in Silver with the covers removed and what struck me is how small it made the wheels look! It just hit me weird and looked all out of proportion.

So I think I'm keeping the wheel covers on for now.
