    Hey all,

I just traded in my purchased-used '04 driftwood pearl to a shiny new '07 barcelona red, package 3 Prius.

A lot of people have asked me why and...well. This one's all mine. I got her with only four miles on the odometer, and I love her already. She feels a lot more solid on the corners, and just makes me happy! :D

I wanted to say hi to everyone, and I have been lurking to add some mods to her. I already ordered a screen visor, and am looking for a nice subwoofer. Yes, I am searching the audio forum. ;)

Anyway, I wanted to say hi!

    -Rich

How many miles did you have on the '04, and what was the trade in value?

Let me tell you I traded in my '04 in Dec for a 2007 . The 04 had 10K miles Kelly Blue Book online said ~ 20K ( It had navigation , no leather in 04 ) and my crappy dealership offered me $17K.
I SHOULD HAVE WALKED OUT . He throws in a FREE oil change .... lol what a joke ...... And then in March Toyota offers the $2000 rebates on option packages . Man what BAD TIMING . Well at least I got the $1575 tax rebate . AND I paid MSRP for the 07 with leather about $29K ouch .....

Do many Prius owners use one of these?
    What's the feedback?

I traded it in for 18k, and it was dinged and had scratches and needed a good interior cleaning. It was also rear-ended 4(!) times!

It also had about 150k on it, so I felt it was okay.

    :) Hi Celendis

Considering your miles on the clock and history, you made a good trade.

I made a similar trade/upgrade last November. My 'not a scratch' '04 Package 8 had 22K miles on the clock and I managed $20,500 in trade allowance plus a $600 discount on the 2007 Touring Edition MSRP. The '04 Package 8 was fully loaded excepting only the HID headlights. At that time the '07's were just beginning to arrive and the Touring Edition was new to the collection.

Since I'd bought my '04 used with 4K miles on the clock, I couldn't get the best Extended Warranty and I was about to run out of 'time' on the 3yr/36K warranty. We also preferred leather, wanted the side airbags and backup camera (since I'd nearly backed into my wife and stepson once in my '04.. ). Other pluses included the 16" rims with Bridgestone Turanza tires, the firmer suspension.and HID headlights.

The only way to truly know what you're getting for your trade is to go in with financing already arranged from your bank and negotiate a cash price with no trade. Once you get a cash price, then have them look at your trade. Otherwise, it's very difficult to determine if they charged you a little more on the new vehicle to make up for the trade, or whether they made up the difference on the back end by charging you a slightly higher interest rate.

    Celendis,

    Congrats on your new buggy!

Glad you like it. I myself just traded in an 04' (millenium silver) two weeks ago on a new 07' (driftwood pearl/bisque) and so now considered a "legacy Prius owner"!! Yippee!!

04' miles at trade were 54,789, and in great condition. Trade value: $16,750..(although dlr. has it on lot for $19,995??!!UGH)
    New 07'..$23,650. on 5 yr. lease....total out-the-door = $30k...ouch!

    Anyway, enjoy.
    Happy green motoring everyone!

Ya think so? Well.....can't begrudge the dealer for wanting to make $$ on it. Plus, my dealer here in Bham.
(Wilson) is PHENOMINAL to deal with!!!

Love the new one though and alot of nice improvements since the 04' model....ie: frustraiting painted plastic changed and all airbags now std. eq.!!!

    Have a great weekend !!

Ouch!! 15K for an 05' with only 22K?? Was there a catch?? Sounds awfully low on NADA value??

    Anyway, enjoy the new one!

    Peace.
