OK, I've had the car 3 weeks now and I love it, but I keep hearing something funny:

There's a persistent squeak/squeal or even a "chirp"-like sound coming from somewhere in front, whenever the car goes over anything but a perfectly smooth road. Any bump sets it off. I hear it louder with the driver window open so I don't think it's an interior rattle. Possibly something under the hood? There's no squeak when the car comes to a final stop so I don't suspect the suspension.

Is anybody else hearing this stuff? Has anyone had it fixed?

    Thanks.

sounds like you might have some trim loose. and its rubbing. my ford was like that.

without actually hearing your car, it could be tough to narrow it down. also be aware that a moving car can sometimes be difficult to determine where noise is coming from.

i had a buzzing sound that i found was change in my compartment located below the CD player. i moved it to the center console and it disappeared.

as for yours, i would take everything out of your car first. if that doesnt do it, it will be tough to find. start with the front end and check everything for movement. under the hood, there is not much that can move around. so i would look at headlights, mirrors, or maybe the plastic covers attached to the bottom of the car. you might try stuff a small rag between the plastic covers and the frame of the car to see if that would do anything.

also can you identify what the material might be. like metal on metal or metal on plastic??

I spent a week trying to stop my CD cases sliding around in the lower glove box every time I took a corner.

Then I discovered it was actually some pens in the console slide-out tray.

    Mystery solved!

After hearing that infernal squeal/squeak/chip for almost 2 months, I determined it was actually coming from somewhere in back, not in front as I first thought (sound bounces all over that interior!)

So I got into the back seat, and started banging on everything... the doors, the headreasts, the seatbelts... nothing.

I tried one more thing. I pushed that metal rod that holds the roll-up cover that hides the trunk space. Just a little shove...

    SQUEAL!

    I hit it again...

    SQUEAK!!

One more time.... back and forth...

    CHIRRRRRP!!

    Of all the silly things...

I stuck some folded paper into the two wells that hold the rod. The sounds are GONE.

The paper fix is temporary. I'd like to do something a little more long lasting... I'm thinking tape of some kind. Any suggestions?
