Does the 2007 come with valet cards?

I received a bunch with our 2007. They are a really good idea providing the valet can read and the same valet picks up your car as the one that parked it. I would still go over it with the valet to make sure he turns the car off.

    Stupid story...

When I was going over the car with the dealer, and looking in all the hidden places, we found the valet cards.
The only problem was he or I knew what they were. I thought I was something left over from the factory in the armrest. Not knowing what it was, we left one on the gearshift thinking it was only required for the owners knowledge and the dear pocketed the rest to place in the trash.

Think of the alternative (i.e. if the car shut off when the fob wasn't in range):

You're driving down the highway, minding your own business and the battery dies in your fob. Your Prius thinks that you're out of range, so it shuts down while you're doing 90 in the fast lane.

As people have pointed out, there were carjackings before the Prius existed, since the carjacker would just take the car with the keys in it. In the case of the Prius (with SKS), once the crook turns the car off, they can't turn it on again. I do agree that forgetting to shut it off is a possible "bad" side effect, but the Prius does beep at you like crazy if you try to leave the car with the fob in your pocket.

If you get out of the car with the fob in your pocket and the engine running (not turned off) it is possible for someone to drive the car anywhere they want until they turn it off. The Prius does beep if you leave it turned on, but if you are in a noisy area or have problems hearing you can miss the beeps. When we first purchased ours I thought I turned it off but I only put it in park. Was I supprised then I came out of the restaurant and saw that the display was lit up, and the car not locked. I was lucky nobody took it for a ride. It was a learning curve. Not having to remove the keys made me complacence.

I had a new 2005 and got a pad of them which I kindly left in the car when I traded it in and took delivery last week of my 2007. The dealer said they no longer give them out and that mine in my old car were no longer there. I loved those cards!

Will those card work with Valet Girls? From the San Fernando Valet? If they will work on even the blond ones, that is Totaly Tubular. If not, Gag me with a Spoon!

Charles, I am new to the boards but just wanted to thank you for all the information you supply! Also, we originally wanted Driftwood Pearl but the 'next-up' color to arrive was Barcelona Red - which our local dealer INSISTED was the one best for us. Well, we had it 3 days and, due to a variety of reasons, returned it to the dealer and were able to reserved a Driftwood Pearl from a dealer 2 hours away. They also have a Silver Pine coming in the following week and we had mixed feelings on our color choice. I see you have owned 2 Driftwood.

Since we have never physically seen either color (have seen and don't care for the blue, silver or gray, and don't want black or white - no offense to owners of these colors, just not our preference). Just wondered if you can let us know if Driftwood 'blends' into the background or if it is a proud and distinctive color of it's own?

It probably does blend, but it was my first color choice. IMO it shows the least dirt and should absord less heat than darker colors. It's a popular color in general in this part of the country.

I never heard of valet cards until now, but it's a good idea. For some reason I'm unable to download it.

SO wait, I'm still waiting on mine to deliver, the cards are in the manual? I know I likely misread that but where did you find this to point out to the dealer/salesman?

Obviously' i've misunderstood, but please, elaborate.

So i'm waiting delivery of my prius (see signature) and called the dealer.. asked him about the cards and told him how i read 'online' that many dealers don't know what this is so i wanted to inquire.. he said 'you're right, i don't know, haha' and then checked on it for me... found out that yes, i will get them with my car.. but then told me that the date i had been told (see signature) to recieve the car was not one they are sure about and that he has to 'check on it'.. anyways that's an entirely diffrent issue which i'm starting another topic for heh.

Kind of a tangent, but I bought a new Mac recently. The guy at the Apple store took this big envelope that came with the computer and tossed it directly into the trash, saying that I wouldn't need any of it and that the contents would only confuse me.

I recovered the envelope. Inside: a remote control...and the system software!!
    [gulp]

    I guess misunderstandings/misinformation happens everwhere.

I'd kill'em. In the context you typed that, I would absolutely give them a stare of death, haha. I'm a PC technician so I don't take any BS with any electronics. Haha

I guess my advice, guys, is just call them up before you go to pick up the car. Let them know ahead of time so they can look.

That's the ultimate arrogance on his part. You should have really told him off.

Especially for telling you it would only confuse you. It probably would have confused the idiot that told you that.

I just picked up my car 2 weeks ago, and it had a whole pad of them in the console. When I asked what it was, the salesman explained them and said all new Prii come with them...
...I guess they're not discontinued YET.

Mine came with them. I called ahead before I picked it up to ask about them and they said they were on there.

The only valet parking I use are the casinos in Las Vegas. All of those guys have driven a lot of Priuses. When I first got a Prius back in October 2005, I asked a few if they had driven a Prius before, and they all had, so I have never used a valet card.

I do make sure that the fob is in the fob slot in the dash rather than in my pocket if I know I'm going to use valet parking though.
