Brucie, how much did the install end up being after you got the $270 price?

    Metro,

That antenna doesn't look any smaller than the one I got from FI with their kit.

Can anyone answer this and/or verify that this system will in fact work on a 2007 Prius Package 1?

I agree that is most likely true. I was only stating that it was smaller than what Toyota had used in the past. One of FI's selling points is that they use a smaller antenna than the factory one which used to be true. They state that they replace it in their kit for looks and possibly reception.

Just like it was posted before this kit will work on any package Prius that is a 2006-07. There are no package limitations. The only issue might be character limitation. I know that one customer has reported 10 character limitation so far.

I dug around in Sirius' database and that one is only 10 characters. Doesn't matter much since the Prius can only display 16 in SAT anyway.

Well then the Toyota one must have been huge because the one I got with the FI kit wasn't what I would call small.

It was HUMONGOUS. It was bigger and bulkier than my PDA.

What I've been waiting for is confirmation that you've sold one of these kits to a customer with Package 1 or 2 (which are not listed as satellite capable) and that it has for worked for them without problem. Or for someone else with a Package 1 or 2 to chime in and tell me they have installed this kit without problem. Sorry for being so picky, but I really don't want to go through the whole ordering and installation process only to find out that it doesn't work.

Ok, I'll say it again. EVERY SINGLE Prius/Toyota made from 2004+ is satellite capable. Even the base models.

I will echo EXACTLY what Vagabond posted. ALL PRIUS PACKAGES ARE SATELLITE CAPABLE. Since I rarely speak with customers I am never sure how their particular vehicle is outfitted. The one customer that I spoke with briefly did have one of the lower package vehicles, I just do not remember exactly what package. He was the one who told me that he was limited to 10 characters. Hopefully this the information that was being asked for.

I've heard you loud and clear on this several times now Vagabond and I do appreciate your input. What I haven't heard is confirmation from anyone that this kit has in fact worked for someone on a Base, Package 1, or Package 2 model. I also haven't heard an explanation as to why only Packages 3 and higher are listed by Toyota as having "satellite capability". Is it a scam to get people to buy higher-packaged cars? I guess that wouldn't be surprising. But I want to be certain that there isn't a compatibility issue before I go through the installation. Perhaps you and Metro are certain that there isn't one, but what I'm telling you is that I have yet to be convinced that is the case. I really don't mean to sound like I'm complaining; just looking to make an informed decision. It's not your job, Vagabond, to convince me that it will work. But if you do have a technical basis for stating that it will work, I would appreciate hearing it. Nor is it Metro's job for that matter, but there is likely a sale in it for him if he or someone else can.

Sorry, I came off as bit of a jackass there.

I do have the technical background to say for certain that all Prius cars are sat compatible - I have a 06 base and a 05 JBL model radio sitting on a work bench about 20 feet from me that used for DICE kit testing. If it didn't support the sat mode, my product would work on it. I have had sirius modules plugged into it and does work.

Can you show me where it says only some packages say Sat capability? Toyota hasn't given me any docs that say that - and judging on toyota marketing policy it wouldn't surprise me that it's merely a typo.

Thanks for the background info. That is helpful to know. Sorry I haven't gotten into the whole DICE thing so I didn't know about your expertise there.

If you go to toyota.com/prius, select "Build and Price Your Prius" and then roll over the various Option packages, you will see that "satellite radio capability" is only on Packages 3 and up.

Weird. It's only listed like that with their hybrids. No matter, it'll work.

Good News...I just bought the kit from Metro and it installed quite nicely in a 2007 Prius with Package #2. The instructions that you can get from Metro are very complete. By far the hardest part is reaching behind the radio to plug in the connector. Kind of a tight spot. Other than that follow the steps, take your time and it will work. It is nice to have it integrated into the display screen. It saves presets on three screens just like the two FM screen. Works great. Thanks for the deal Metro.

So if you can add a Sirius system to a base (that is, non-JBL) radio, I also assume you can add an XM system to the same base system, right?
